Well, his last four albums have all been compilations, he hasn't toured in 11 years, his most popular songs were released in the '70s and early '80s, and he's been wearing the same clothes now for twenty years, so yeah, he's retro..... In other news, Jay-Z is black, Britney dyes her hair, and Dick Cheney is rumoured to have heart problems. I think it seems that way because: 1. MJ fans are nuts and think anyone who doesn't worship him is incredibly negative and the spawn of satan. 2. Some P fans think it's ridiculous to compare the artists or lump them together as people(who don't have a clue)often do with P and Mike, and they have no problem saying so 3. MJ fans pack the boards like illegals and when people are annoyed by them they tend to make certain comments. Let me say this, had it not been for MJ our little Princey would NOT have been on MTV and would not be the star that he is today.
As we can see today, MTV was/is no blessing, so who really gives a fuck about the big MTV crossover. MTV is not the beginning, end, or anything else of great, lasting music. As for his star status, again, who cares BUT much like other great artists he still would have enjoyed a decent level of popularity, interest, and fame without MTV. All MTV did was promote PR and after that era most of these fame creating casual listeners/fans were gone. He's a musician first, unlike MJ, and those that find him are a reflection of that. His music is his status, and really MTV/PR led him down a pretty weak path creatively, were it not for that his status and support would be stronger today. He was still doing good stuff, but other things got in the way. | |
