alicia keys - teenage love affair http://www.youtube.com/wa...SaSDYYwZNM
i really like this video. the whole school daze influence . is it me or is alicia getting finer and finer? i remember not really feeling her when she first came out. i still don't understand what the big deal behind fallin' was, probably just not my tune . i didn't mind her cover of how come u don't call me anymore. it was a fresh take, adding a beat to it and all, but she couldn't match the intensity of the original. you don't know my name is one of my favorites, i still get when i hear it . no one was good (the first thousand times i heard it). the same with if i ain't got you and like you'll never see me again. all good stuff. i'm starting to love her voice more and more. i especially like the part in this song when she's like "cuz you are my baby, baby" and the way she hits "nothing really matters" in the hook . really loving this cut right now. anyone else got some love for it, the video or alicia in general? For all time I am with you, you are with me.

when i listened to the album last december I immidetitaley fell in love with Teenage Love Affair. Actually I love teh hole album. I think it's her best so far. I was relieved that As I Am is so good, because I wasn't quite convinced by "The Diary Of AK" and feared she could get worse (or in her case: less good) with each album.
I absolutely adore her, her voice is pleasant to listen to, she looks sexy and her songwriting is stark! imo the best modern R'n'B artist of today. the only two mistakes she did so far was this duet with Usher and Eve... btw, how are her singles doing? i fear she doesn't top the listst too often??!

I agree that she is absolutely beautiful...but I wish she would challenge herself with her music more often! As I Am is totally uninspired and ho-hum
but she is hawt! If you will, so will I

Co-sign. Couldn't have been stated more succinctly. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

It's funny how this board is full of people who complain on a daily basis how music has gone down the toilet today, but completely fail to recognize that a song like "Teenage Love Affair" by no means lacks the quality of classic soul / pop -music.The same applies to many of the cuts on Alicia's latest album as well.
Oh c'mon. The chick seeked out a Jupiter-8 herself by going through sales ads, not just by lending one from a studio or something. How many women would do something like that.

She's still boring...and still fine as hell. There's nothing "new" about her new song other than the fact that she's doing it. Its an old sound. Its been done.

Considering something "boring" is a perfectly sensical reason to dismiss a performer's output, and anyone is perfectly free not to like a song. Nothing odd about that. People can make up their own minds what they consider good and what they consider bad, or "boring". But no, I'm not buying that "it's been done"-thing, when all people on this site are usually doing is collectively complaining about how music is completely ruined by big companies and the hiphop movement, and how the old times should be brought back. Well, here is is "back" in one form - and may I add extremely well produced - yet all people are doing is attempting to rationalize their dismissive opinions either by completely reversing their original basis for reasoning or resorting to completely vague descriptions that bear no content whatsoever (hence you really can't respond to comments like "there's nothing new to her song", or "it's been done", because they're such null statements in the first place). If that sounded too complicated, it can be expressed also in a shorter form: "people just like to bitch". SUPRMAN said: Does she cook too?
Dunno. I read vintage synth user forums, not cooking sites. Probably not, she's a bit of a spoilt brat, isn't she?

Whateva. When you're done, let me know. Still ain't feelin' it. Its still "been done" and she's still boring. I'm not "attempting" anything. Just stating my opinion.
I liked "Karma". Not feeling this attempted rehash at an older sound that is in my opinion ineffectively executed.

I honestly believe she is now Tone Deaf. Listen to this album & then listen to her first album. Her voice has gotten considerably worse.

BlaqueKnight I'm with you. Ladies like Alicia and India Arie are fine and talented but their music does nothing for me.
Erykah Badu (who I think is beautiful) is not playing it safe on her new joint. "Amerykah" is killer..but I'll save that for another thread.
