MIKEMATRONIK'S MIXTAPE II: The best pop songs are the ones about sadness

The second instalment of mixtape series I started. The first mixtape was only give to some orgers who are dear to me. Now I've decided to "came out"

1. Melodies & Desires - Lykke Li

Imagine Björk, but likes she almost trying to kill herself.

2. Saw Something (Single Version) - Dave Gahan

Eerie...

3. Juliet of the Spirits - The B-52's

The song was made to be played loud.

4. Bum Like You (Original 2005 Version) - Robyn

Only released on the Swedish version of Robyn's 4th album. Laid-back rock version.

5. Longing For Lullabies - Kleerup with Titiyo

Sad and depressing songs make pop masterpieces. Now if you put synths...BLISS!

Currently my favorite song to be miserable...

6. Medevac - Siobhan Donaghy

Think the Kate Bush of this generation...

7. Prisoner Of Love -Quiet Version- - Hikaru Utada

My beloved Utada with another ballad. I crave for this kind of stuff

8. El Justiciero - Os Mutantes

I always loved Os Mutantes. It's a shame they are so underrated on the musical world. This song is very quirky. (I was going to put one of the 3 versions they have of Baby, but someone here would start talking about the shitty version that Bebel Gilberto...)

9. Sick Child - Siouxsie and the Banshees

Nothing to declare. Forgotten gem imo.

10. Fly Me Away (Ladytron Remix) - Goldfrapp

The only good thing that Ladytron ever did imo. (Sorry huey...)

11. Suddenly - Shakespear's Sister

Marcie left...Siobhan became the defacto leader. Electro-glam masterpiece...

12. In my arms - Spunky

Erasure cover. This dude is one hot spanish bear...yummy!

13. +gothic Pink+ (Melancholic guitar version) - Tommy heavenly6

Tomoko Kawase's rock chick alter-ego. Gothic acoustic version...full of engrrish moments

14. 2 Hearts (Studio Version) - Kylie Minogue

Laid-back acoustic remix. Perfect for a rainy day. Hated by pathetic Kylie gay fans...

15. My girl (demo) - Pet Shop Boys

Don't u love a great PSB demo. Madness cover.

16. Set Your Heart - Cyndi Lauper

C's back. Dancefloor filler! Wait...the first happy song of the mixtape!

I saw Lykke Li live here two weeks ago. She was great! I think her album is a little too restrained now that I've seen the amount of energy she has when performing.

It was a co-headlining show with El Perro Del Mar. Lykke performed first and stole the show. For the encore they performed an old Wendy Rene song together:

I know. I'm a sucker for women (Kate, Tori, Bjork, Madonna, Kylie...), but I never got PJ. She doesn't have any appeal 2 me. I tried, but I couldn't grasp her
