"Mama, i want to sing" I heard this musical is being made into a movie, starring Ciara and Patti LaBelle,
but i love the original soundtrack, with Doris Troy herself.

Patti is a guest star I think, its Lynn Whitefield who'll be starring against Ciara(Out of ALL the talented vocalists they could've chose ).
But hey, there's a shortage of good black movies lately,,,and I'll support this for my girl Ms.Whitefield alone.

I would kill for the soundtrack of the London cast where Chaka Khan starred (don`t remember which year)

I don't know why they chose Ciara either. There is a photo of her that resembles Desiree Coleman (who once starred) but so what? Oh well. I too am a fan of Lynn Whitfield. I saw her exiting a restaurant once and as she said goodbye to friends and management she was so fabulous and elegant. She reminded me of a throwback to the old-fashioned movie stars with her pashmina and shades. I also caught her in an off-Broadway play. I forget the name but she was the only reason I went. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

We all know Ciara was picked because she is young and hip. It's not about the talent with this girl. Besides, she is very beautiful. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Girl, I simply ADORE Lynn Whitefield! Mama met her in Louisiana once(resturant too Creole resturant) and said that she entered the kitchen to put some touches for some friends supposedly and served them the meal herself And I agree, she's so elegant and worldly, she reminds me of Duke Ellington's tune Sophisticated Lady to a T. And you could tell it was instilled in her from the time she was a spic in her mother's cooch,,,,FAR from the charm school bullshit that gets shoved down the trashy chics' throats much later.

Lucky you! Yes, Ms. Whitfield is the one. Debbie Morgan’s monologue aside, she is one of the primary reasons why I love Eve’s Bayou. You never see her looking out of order altho lately it looks like she may have went under the needle (as opposed to the knife) but I’ll still give it to her. It doesn’t take away from her fabulosity. There aren’t many left of her caliber and she should be acting way more than she does. I even wrote her a part in a little project I’ve been working on.
