lol It's a greatest hits.

Love this song. It was (I believe) one of 3 new ones on that set. Whatever the case, it was his biggest R&B hit.

You mean the biggest R&B hit of the new Musiquarium songs, right?

Anyway, there were 4 new (and fantastic) songs on that album:
"That Girl"
"Do I Do"
"Front Line"
"Ribbon in the Sky"
"Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I've been jamming to "That Girl" specifically for months, now. I got reintroduced to the genius on that song by the cover on "Conception," the SW tribute CD.

I especially love the bassline and harp solo, of course. But everything on that thing is on point.

Was marveling at it anew, the original, last night on the treadmill. touched

I thought "Ribbon In The Sky" was one of those songs that was compiled onto Musiquarium from somewhere I had yet to discover. lol

Damn, those new songs turned out to be pretty damn essential.

You're welcome.

Oh, OK. I always find it interesting how they determine things like that. It's his longest-running #1 R&B hit, which I guess is the main way they decide that it's the biggest. OTOH, doesn't that depend on the singles it's up against at the time. hmmm

I agree -- it's fair to say that "That Girl" is not Stevie Wonder's biggest hit, in terms of association with the artist and arguably in the heirarchy of his catalog. It is, however, the song in his catalog that spent the most weeks atop the Billboard R&B Singles chart.

There's a whole point system that they used that I haven't cared to decipher. lol It's not just weeks at number one that determine it, but it's a big factor.

I remember looking into it back in the early '90s when I was really into the charts. I think the total number of weeks on the chart also plays a big role. IIRC, I always thought a slow climb was better than a really high debut.
