I don't like her version. I don't like any of her songs or covers.

I haven't heard anything from her that shows she's anything but Ashanti with a piano in front of her and two weeks of lessons.

Fuck all these people in this thread. I love Alicia's version of How Come... Her version even changed the way Prince performed it. He used to just perform it by himself at the piano, now he brings in the entire band.

Props to Alicia.

Hmm..If so many mainstream artists came out with a Fallin, A Womans Worth, an If I Ain't Got You, a Stolen Moments, then she wouldn't be so popular. She's better than most mainstream artists, and just as good as a lot of underground artists, especially when you add in the fact that she's a good live performer. Not too many of her peers can do what she does in the studio let alone on the stage.

"So Glad that Alicia covered this Prince song"

I was about to say....You might be alone in that thinking. I think many people are just sort of fed up with Alicia Keys around here for whatever reason. I don't think this is a bad cover, but it's just sort of there like "If I Don't Have You". It just sort of lays there like a bored hooker!

I didn't like how she tried to imitate Prince's spoken monologue during the verses. That was kind of tacky IMHO. Sorry, DD. shrug

I see. I was fed up with her a few months ago(disappointed with AIA) but I'm about to see her in concert soon so I'm getting excited, plus it seems like she puts on a good show. I still think she has a great amount of potential.. way too much for me to ever give up on her...but I guess I can understand how others feel towards her. I still say she's one of the best mainstream artists out.

I actually like her cover of that song. I think she did a good job. It's much better than most of the P covers i've heard.

Are you part of her marketing team? I'm joking, anyway, Mister Keys is a packaged, pop artist. He leans on samples. He can't write. He can't sing. He can't play. He
can
not
jam
at
all.

If you stick any random pop tart behind a piano, show them a couple things, throw together some sample heavy songs with lyrics so trite they seem computer generated, slap together a few videos featuring all the tired, fake "urban" imagery you can come up with, and get the chick to do certain things in front of an audience like a trained animal, add water and a fake blaccent you get Alicia Keys.

NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT. shrug

How original, you called a woman, a man!!! I've never seen anyone so misogynist and catty!!! You always are here calling a woman a whore, a tard, a slut, etc.

You need to adress your issues with women. Hell, life in general 'cause you are one miserable S.O.B.!!!

Clive throws millions into everybody, that's his job!!! And it doesn't always work!!! Just because Clive invests in an artist doesn't guarantee success!!!

Thank you so much for saying this. I'd think it was his job to invest in her. Fact is, he had to see a lot of talent or potential to even do so, and so far, he made a good choice with his investment.

People really like her songs. You may not like them, but others do, so Alicia is working with a lot. She has a push, but she brings her fair share to the table, and that's how things should work in the business imho.

Okay...she might not be a great singer, but to put her in the same catagory as Ashanti??? You must be HIGH!! Alicia can out sing and perform, Ms. "Dance around in circles", anyday. It must be something very personal that you have against Alicia. Please do tell...

cool I think Alicia did do a good job with Prince song. It is not bad at all. What i do not understand is why she is dissed so much. I think she is talented. She is just caught up in trying to make herself sound like who she admires. cool
