Great song! One of my faves by them. Nothing will ever top "Can You Stand The Rain" though love, that is New Edition's best song imo.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

I have a special connection to 1983 and all the amazing songs that came out that year.New Edition's first album was one of my favorites.

Their second album, New Edition, is much better than their first IMO.

nod can't argue with that.

Their song "Helplessly In Love" is a bit better than Can You Stand The Rain

Helplessly In Love is a great song, but nothing tops my "Can You Stand The Rain" biggrin.

Personally, I say to each his own regarding New Edition's "Heartbreak." It was the act's best album and was the spreingboard to the members' post-NE solo efforts. That's nearly as hilarious as someone saying Alexander O'Neal's music was "weaker" than The S.O.S. Band's music (I guess Vainandy had never heard "Fake," "Innocent," "Criticize," "Every Time I Get Up" and "Somebody").

I'm well aware of "Innocent". Yes, it's a very hard jam and that song is the reason I bought the first Alexander O'Neal album, only to be disappointed by the rest of the album which was totally weak. As for the other songs you listed, I've heard "Criticize", which I don't care for. The reason I haven't heard the other songs is because, after purchasing that first weak album, I wasn't going to be burned twice. When "Fake" (which was another strong jam) came out, I bought the 45 and was satisfied with it. I didn't hear anything else strong being played on the radio so I didn't buy any more Alexander O'Neal albums.

Personally, I say it's strange for you to categorize (and be critical of) Alexander O'Neal's music when your whole experience has been his first album and a song here or there. Moreover, when some of the uptempo songs you have heard O'Neal make are more uptempo and aggressive than anything The S.O.S. Band made during their time with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
