I hear ya!! 'No Parking On The Dancefloor' is essential. That's one of the best R&B albums of the 80s.No filler whatsoever....a strong, consistent album from beginning to end.Can you believe that "Electricity" never became a single, despite the heavy airplay it received? And I agree with you,"Playmates" is HOT! An underrated gem from that album. A question: How come on some of the Midnight Star 'Best of' compilations, they use a lame remix of "Freak-A-Zoid"? It's horrible! I'd rather they use the original album version or don't include it all. I was thinking about that also. I have the Anniversary Collection and it contains that horrible remix. Maybe that remix was a club hit? I don't know. I was only about 10 or 11 when the album came out. I also purchased a re-issue 45 about 20 years ago and it had that horrible remix also. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

"Electricity," like virtually all the songs on "No Parking on the Dancefloor," was played so much on soul radio stations around the country from late Summer 1983 to Summer 1984 that it was difficult to pick follow-up singles to "Freak-A-Zoid." "Wet My Whistle" and the title track were chosen as follow-up singles almost by default -- relative to songs like "Electricity," "Night Rider," "Feels So Good," "Slow Jam," etc. they were arguably the least saturated. [Edited 5/20/08 6:06am] According to Wikipedia, these were the only singles released from this album: 1983 "Freak-A-Zoid" 66 2 44 No Parking on the Dance Floor 1983 "Wet My Whistle" 61 8 15 No Parking on the Dance Floor 1983 "No Parking (On The Dance Floor)" 81 43 - For some reason, I don't think this is accurate. I say this because I remember Night Rider being issued with a 12" version. I also remember Slow Jam being a single (after it had been played to death), but didn't chart high. Can anyone else back me up on this? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I don't know why it keeps appearing on these compilations. The original version is superior.

I could be wrong, but I think there really were only three singles from this album ("Freak-A-Zoid","Wet My Whistle" and "No Parking On The Dancefloor").I recall seeing videos for only these three songs.R&B radio played the other songs too, which is why many people assume songs like "Electricity" and "Slow Jam" were singles. It's almost ridiculous how many potential hits there were on this album.

I didn't like the "Headlines" title track single and I think "Midas Touch" sounds a little too much like "Wet My Whistle",but I do like "Engine No.9" from that album.

Don't Rock The Boat That looks like a decent compilation but I have to ask....does it include the original version of "Freak-A-Zoid" or the lame remix version that appears on other compilations? If they removed one of the lesser hits (maybe "Engine No.9") and replaced it with "Scientific Love" (my favorite song from 'Planetary Invasion'),this would be a perfect compilation.

That is correct, according to Billboard magazine -- "Freak-a-Zoid," "Wet My Whistle" and "No Parking on the Dancefloor" were the only singles from the album. "Electricity," "Night Rider," "Feels So Good" and "Slow Jam" were such radio mainstays across the nation that some people mistakenly assume those songs were singles. In a way, the popularity of the songs made it hard to pick follow-up singles to "Freak-a-Zoid," so picking singles became more of a case of picking songs that weren't played as much. No, the major difference is that Ultimate Collection doesn't have "Curious." Seems like they have a million collections out there. No, the major difference is that Ultimate Collection doesn't have "Curious." I didn't notice that. I didn't purchase the Ultimate (because I really didn't need it). I have most of the songs on the greatest hits compilations on the original albums. The only reason I purchase GH packages is to get a single version or some other alternate remix. Speaking of...are there any remixes of Curious? I have only heard the album version on the radio. All of the versions I have are about the same time and sound about the same. The only one I have that is slightly different is the version on "Smooth Grooves: After DArk". That compilation turned up the volume when they were mastering the cd and the song doesn't fade as early. That's the only different version I can find. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
