I think the way you make me feel playback sounds better live than the music on the track, the harmonies are better, and they sound better in the E major and E flat major scales like they usually are performed in at his concerts.

and why is he covering his face? Aren't the point of those headset mics supposed to be that they're hands-free?

He's trying to keep his new nose from falling off obviously. lol

I thought he was just trying to cover the lipsynching, but that's probably right. His lips looked like they were chiku-chu-gonna blow off his mouth during that show.

It's certainly a great song but it's depressing that MJ fans have to go back and dust off stuff from 20 to 30 years ago to find a classic performance these days.

Michael covering his mouth 90% of the time tainted my memory of the MSG shows.

This is when he started to lose me. In the course of a decade, he went from singing like Jackie Wilson to singing like Sy Snootles, the singer from Jabba The Hutt's Max Rebo Band --

Amazing. When it comes to lip-synching, MJ is pretty much on par with every other pop star that lip-synchs. Way to go, King of Pop. lol

Here´s something I ´ve just seen for the first time. The Way You Make Me Feel at the 30 Anniversary Concert. This time without Britney. I sounds good, not at the very begining, but I think it´s good considering the state he was in during those concerts.

The beginning and the end adlibs are live, the actual verses and the chorus are not. Either it's a rerecorded vocal or a bit slowed down which would make it sound different from the version most would isntantly recognize by now.

Curiously enough there seems to be a version of Rock My World now available that at least on the first listen would seem to be live:

http://www.youtube.com/wa...vjPrY&NR=1

I had heard about them replacing the vocals for the tv broadcasts with the recorded versions (or was it a different night?), but this is the first time I hear these ones.

You must be talking out of your ass. Everyone knows Mike can't sing for shit anymore. Just read any MJ related thread on the Org. Full of experts on Mike.

The end of Beat It is live too, and he sounds good. I don't mind the heavy breathing and the gaps in the vocals myself - that's what singing live by very physical performers is like and has always been, kids. He just seems to be mostly afraid of carrying out the verses where there are no backing vocals to help him out, the choruses can of course be helped out by the backing vocalists Well, you can yourself try doing the Beat It choregraphy and show how funky and strong is your vocal performance at the same time.

Not sure about aging Slash's belly on that clip though. confused

No, you don't understand. It doesn't matter how much evidence you can provide or direct people to. Mike CAN'T sing! Got it?

I think it's defferent NOW because there are mediums like internet where people can discuss lip-syncing and production values on music, back in the day even during most of the 90s there was nothing like that for most people who were interested in popular culture. The magazines really wouldn't discuss it widely, and even though the whole lipsynicng thing is a standard practice on TV shows everybody dismisses those acts as musically irrelevant already as a ground rule.

But especially on sites like this people seem to be very concerned about the "realness" of the performances, whereas many a Michael Jackson concert standard is more or less a recreation of a music video. You're watching a guy who is there doing a rehearsed dance sequence with ZOMBIES and CRYPTS on the background, all accompanied by a laser show - and you're seriously concerned about the level of musicianship exhibited there?

When did that hate thing happen to you? You used to be a fan, right?
