DURAN DURAN READY NEW CD

Well after 2000's Underrated POP TRASH CD, all 3 Taylors Decided to Rejoin DURAN DURAN and start working on their first CD as a Full Band since 1983's 7 and Ragged Tiger. Duran Duran are almost finished with this new CD and are prepared to tour the US in the Spring Summer 2003 as a Full Band for the first time since 1985's Live Aid performance.Rumours are flying about who is producing but Nile Rodgers name keeps coming up in every rumour. And at this time Duran Duran are not signed, they left EMI in 1999 after 19 years and signed with Universal/Hollywood in 2000 for the POP TRASH cd but were dropped while they toured for it. Too bad for Universal and EMI since Duran DUran seem to be getting stronger creatively with each CD but now hopefully they will find a good support.

Thanks.

I agree that Pop Trash was underrated. The fact that it got a hell of a lot of 1 star reviews with critics passing them off as 80s kitsh really annoyed me. I saw them in concert 2 years ago and half the songs they played were from Pop Trash. They fitted in well with the classics.

Poor Duran. I think they made a mistake with the Thank You album in 1995. They had the perfect opportunity to prove themselves after the brilliant Wedding Album comeback and they go and release a silly covers album. Although even that gets a lot of flack because even Lou Reed said DD's version of Perfect Day was how he visioned it and that it's his favourite version.

Still, I never forgot them and am looking forward to the new material, especially with the Taylors.

I too think that Pop Trash is highly underrated...so many great songs! Especially Lady Xanax...

Duran Duran is one of those bands that gets condemned no matter how good the music is...kinda like the Bee Gees...you mention them and people just roll their eyes.

The Bee Gees get way more respect. Let's take for example the Brit Awards. Every year they give a Lifetime Achievement award to someone. The Bee Gees got their about 5 years ago, but now it actually seems like they're running out of old British acts to give it to. Last year they gave it to U2, forgetting that they are NOT British. I suppose they'll give it to Madonna next year just because she married an English guy. I swear, they're afraid to start working their way through the early 80s electro-pop/New Romantic scene. Some of these bands have been going for over 20 years and still have strong fanbases, yet these shite award ceremonies act like they don't exist.

You could say the same for Prince!

I heard that they'd already been signed for £10m. Someone must believe in them. They have a very loyal and dedicated fanbase from what I've seen.

YES!!!
duran duran, i've been waiting. pop trash may have been underrated, but medazzaland (1997) was criminally overlooked, one of the best CDs of the 90s, and duran's greatest overall, IMHO. i do agree that waiting 2 years after the comeback of '93 to put out an album of covers killed any momentum they could have had for a follow-up hit, but 'thank you' has its sublime moments: title track, driveby, perfect day. i still listen to it.
