nelly furtado - "all good things" still love this song. i've been playing it all day. i remember driving home from a hardrock gig last year and i had 2 girls and a guy in the car who listen to loud metal and they were constantly silently sighing at the prince and joni songs in the car. until this song popped up. middle of the night on the highway and these three r softly singing along to this song and they knew all the words and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I think it's better without Chris Martin (and I'm someone who actually likes Coldplay). "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I thought "Miles Away" was sorta like Madonna's "All Good Things"... mellow lite moment of the album.

I thought "Miles Away" was sorta like Madonna's "All Good Things"... mellow lite moment of the album. I guess, but Nelly's album is has a somewhat mellow lite mood about it, with tracks like Showtime and In God's Hands (and even Say It Right). [Edited 5/17/08 12:43pm]

Yeah but Madonna doesn't spend that much time feeling mellow. That's why I could see "Miles Away" being the radio hit, for all those working moms at the office listenin to lite ninneysix fm.

All Good Things was a huge flop, though, and I expect the same for Miles Away if they release it as a single.

I hear "All Good Things", no exaggeration, every second day at work when I am clerking alongside those working moms. It was simply a hit for a different market.

It was a Top 5 Hot 100 hit in Canada - BECAUSE it was Nelly Furtado Its chart position in the US? #95. Madonna doesn't have the Nelly advantage in the Canadian market, but I think Miles Away would do OK here but flop miserably in the US. [Edited 5/17/08 12:54pm]

Word. I forgot that a Timbaland production still counts as Canadian content if it is Nelly Furtado singing, haha.

i think it did pretty well in europe though, didn't it?
i don't keep track of charts at all but i heard it all of the time on the radio and the clip appeared a lot on the tv. regardless, it's a hit in my own collection and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

To be honest I find this song depressing as all hell. No wonder the metal heads got into it. Those types of records give me the same typa reaction.
