Can't say they're the best ever created band, but can say the original members were a great band.
I dig 'em. I'll go and listen to IV now.

You'll get love from regarding Zeppelin. I've always championed these cats on here. Hands down one of my all time favorite bands. Definately in my top 5. Grew up digging the shit out of them. Had the Jimmy Page poster on my wall with him playing the double neck and the dragon pants when I was a kid. Led Zeppelin...the power and the majesty. Had one of the funkiest, in the pocket drummers to ever play in a "rock" band. And the other John was no joke on bass, mellotron and all of the other weird ass shit that he played. Big reason for Zepp's sound. And of course, Page. Wrote great pieces. Especailly on acoustic. And I'm not just refering to "Stairway" either. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Zep were a great band, and a good example of the old adage "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" This is not an exit

A love-hate dynamic. Plant's bitch-screech wailing wears me out and singing about faeries and wizards gets to be a bit much. If Page & Plant hadn't plagirized so much blues they'd get more love more regularly, but I think Cream and Allman Brothers were better rock bands. test

Yeah that kinda ruins them for me. But I still listen to them, I just can't call them gods anymore.

Zeppelin did a good job copying other artists songs. Some of the versions that they did sounded even better than the originals. I still think that they could have picked some better songs to rerecord. Word on the new configuration of Led Zeppelin is that Jimmy Page has been replaced by none other than Curly Owens. The addition of Owens will be really interesting. Zeppelin may be the best band ever but I am not sure. I can't think of another band that rerecorded songs as well as Zeppelin though.

In my opinion they were the greatest rock band ever. No one compares. The dynamic between all four members was incredible. People go on forever about Page's ability but he came up with some of the greatest riffs ever. His playing was wonderfully emotive and you got the impression he truly enjoyed being up there playing those songs. Also he was a fantastic arranger of songs and a fine producer. Sure there's technically better players but there were few more interesting and exciting than Jimmy Page.

JImmy page could kick prince is ass in a guitar ooff. I'll take Duane Allman any day. A pity he passed so early he could've been out of this world. The Allman Brothers Band IMO deserve more respect. I wish they would come to Europe.

I like Zep after they got over the whole blues thing. Houses Of the Holy is a great album and there's little blues to be found on it. To me, the best part of Zeppelin is Bonham and Jones. Those two motherfuckers GROOVED! I like them, but I'm so burned out on hearing them on classic rock stations that I don't really care if I never hear them again. :^P

I only got into Zep last year, and Houses of the Holy is definitely my favourite album but...damnit they never quite made that one definitive masterpiece, did they?
And please, don't give me that Led Zep IV spiel, it just is NOT that good. This is not an exit

You have to get Physical Graffiti for that, dave. test

Yeah...sort of...but....nah. Not quite a full-on stand-alone humdinger of a masterpiece. Just my two cents, but.. This is not an exit

And please, don't give me that Led Zep IV spiel, it just is NOT that good. 4 is a terrific album. Side 2 is flawless but Physical Graffiti is their crowning achievement. This was their peak IMO. I love their early albums but from Houses Of The Holy onward they really carved their own path instead of reinterpreting blues songs, albeitly brilliantly. Get Physical Graffiti as soon as possible!

The fact that Jimmy Page er, 'borrowed' quite heavily from old blues songs is hardly unique to him and Zeppelin; everybody was at it back then and well before, rightly or wrongly. But then, I generally prefer my blues from the 'sources' (original 'proper' blues artists) than the messengers (like '60s UK blues rock bands). I come to bands like Zeppelin and the Stones for what new they bring to the table. But Zeppelin definitely developed their own style, and perhaps their greatest original contribution was their use of 'eastern/oriental' sounds and scales into their existing blend of heavy blues-rock and folk on tracks like 'Kashmir' (for me perhaps their greatest tracks. (Like Robert Plant, I'm no great fan of 'Stairway' I'm also big fan of Page and Plant's 'No Quarter' album for its use of Arab sounds etc, and also Plant's excellent last solo album 'Mighty Rearranger' for it's cool 'Morrocan Roll' overall sound.

these guys maybe 2 years ago... my favorite right now is probably "Friends" from III but I've been playing the hell out of the first album (which I only liked for "How Many More Times") it's more entertaining than I made it out to be @ first listen because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Mighty Rearranger was excellent i loved that whole eastern ambient rock thing that was going on. The live shows were good too.

Kinda underrated and definitely a hint of what was to come with Kashmir.
