Yeah, when I first saw her perform I liked what I saw, but since then..... “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

NAY - I'd love to hear her find her voice when she's in her thirties.

I like her
She's currently working on some new music with one of our Orgers (SoulPower),can't wait to see how that turns out.

You know, ugh.
I really, really liked her first album. And since i work for the record company i got to meet her and she was such a sweet, down to earth girl. very very, young of course but very sweet. And then the second album came out, and i liked it less than the first. And then the third album came out, and i had a chance to hang out with her again. And she was so fucking not the person she was. Jaded, full of herself, ugh. And now it's hard for me to even want to listen to her. Like i made a slow, "go to sleep" cd the other day and i was going to put her Isley Brothers cover from the first cd on there and decided not to because her voice annoys me now. I just with she did more cutting edge, neo soul leaning stuff instead of trying to become Mariah Carey when her voice is so damned limited. Wow. didn't expect all of that to come out this morning. I need coffee. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts
y'all gone keep messin' around wit me and turn me back to the old me......

Stymie said: SunnySkies said: You too? She`s one of the most soulful vocalists out there today. There are plenty of authentic soulful vocalists that already exist as Stymie mentioned. There was no reason to package up a British teenager and send her to US under the guise of being a soul singer and a grown one at that. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It's not a color thing, because I'll ride for Amy Winehouse all damn day
I just don't hear real "soul" from Joss Stone at all.

You too? She`s one of the most soulful vocalists out there today. Actually, she's really not. She's more of a stylist than a vocalist. Her range is very very small. And she doesn't really know how to sing live as she loses her voice during EVERY SHOW. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

Loved her then, love her now. She generally don't get much love here on The Org. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

I guess she don't get no love as she's not lovable!
No seriously, her first couple of songs I heard I thought hmm, maybe this is one to watch and then I began to think all of her stuff sounds exactly the same (even though it was a covers album) and very monotone. U had the misfortune of seeing her perform at the UK Hall of Fame in 2007 and she pranced about like she was the greatest most amazing thing since Aretha Franklin and then greeted Patti Labelle with such a sneer that I wanted to do a stage invasion and throw custard over her or something. In her credit though, I would love to know what it felt like to have that much self belief. The Hottest chip of them all - www.hotchip.co.uk - Get down with Prince

Great voice, but I ain't liking the way she uses it. She is bland. She can come out with a great backing band and even the little pinky of the background singer can outshine her personality... And as a gay person I have to say; WTF is wrong with her hair?

this is an incredible album!!!
outside of this, and everything attached to this era... I don't really do Joss I heard a small snippet of the song she did on Raphael Saadiq's new project coming out and LOVED IT! I'm with most of you guys though she tries so hard... and it's noticeable it's like the guy that grew up in the burbs trying to be street... you see right through it but after playing so much of Introducing... Joss Stone I've grown accustomed to her voice (the one I hated so much before I heard the album) I give Joss a NYAY... is that possible? because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I just don't hear real "soul" from Joss Stone at all. I agree. It has nothing to do with color for me either because I love me some Teena Marie, but Joss on the other hand just seems to be trying too hard. I mean some of her music is okay but her voice just annoys me to no end and I just don't buy that she's a real "soul" singer. It's not something that comes natural to her. It seems forced to me.
