This is why Wendy said she believed our country’s biggest problem is not drugs but sex abuse because it effects so many people and in so many different ways. From weight gain, drugs, promiscuity, cyclical abuse, depression, etc. problems originating from sex abuse are astounding and too often it goes untreated, unmentioned and unacknowledged. Somehow I don't think this keeping it in the family mentality and beating up on Uncle Ray-Ray or Cousin Pookie is an effective 'treatment'.

CHICAGO (AP) — Prosecutors at the R. Kelly child pornography trial are trying to link the R&B star to the videotape at the center of the case.

A retired investigator with the Cook County state's attorney's office testified Wednesday that he went to a home on Chicago's North Side in 2002 that had been owned by the singer.

Former investigator John Kelly says he saw a "hot tub room" in the home that appeared to be the same room in the sexually explicit video.

Prosecutors played the sex tape in court Tuesday. Authorities contend it shows Kelly engaging in sex with an underage girl and takes place in a distinctive room with a log cabin theme.

A defense attorney countered that Kelly had moved out of the home at least several weeks before the investigator arrived. Kelly has pleaded not guilty.

CHICAGO - A childhood friend of the alleged victim in the R. Kelly child pornography case said she recognizes her longtime friend as the one in the explicit video at the center of the case.

Simha Jamison testified Wednesday that she and the alleged victim were best friends for about ten years until their junior year in high school.

Jamison, 24, said she and her friend visited the R&B star at his recording studio and at a Chicago basketball court dozens of times starting when they were about 12.

They also visited the home where authorities say the sex tape was filmed, she said.

Defense attorneys plan to cross-examine Jamison.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty to charges that accuse him of videotaping himself having sex with an underaged girl.

I actually think Sparkle was as guilty to let her niece fuck around with R. Kelly. The reason the girl won't testify is because she feels that the sex was consensual and he's still sending her and her parents - allegedly - money just so they could keep "denying" that she was on the tape if the girl knew how she and Rob looked back then.

I bet the defense will ask about why she knew too much and why didn't she tell authorities BACK THEN, she'll probably say Robert paid her to shut up too. And also ask if she saw R. Kelly's supposed mole that is supposed to determine whether or not Sylvester was on the tape.

She said her friend called Kelly her godfather. He gave her money and they would visit him at the gym and studio as well as his home. She said Kelly never did anything inappropiate to her friend when they were together. But she said that was her friend on the at around 13 or 14 years old. She said kids made copies of the tape when they were in high school. Both girls were born in 1984. The two no longer speak. An aunt and uncle just testified that the girl in the tape is thei niece. The family says they knew Kelly.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - R&B superstar R. Kelly and a girl who described him as her godfather and was about 13 or 14 are the two people on a pornographic tape Kelly is accused of making, the girl's former best friend testified on Wednesday.

Simha Jamison, now 24, said in the second full day of the Grammy Award-winning artist's trial that she recognized her friend Roshona Landfair on the videotape from her face and from a "mullet" haircut the two girls had gotten together.

"I saw (the tape) in late February 2002," said Jamison, a Chicago hair stylist.

"Who did you believe was the female on that tape?" asked prosecutor Shauna Boliker of the Cook County state's attorney's office.

"I believed it was my best friend, Roshona," she replied.

And the man on the tape, which Jamison was shown again on Wednesday before court?

"Her godfather, R. Kelly," she said, explaining that's how Roshona had introduced the singer.

Kelly is charged with 14 counts of videotaping, producing or soliciting child pornography with a 26-minute tape featuring oral sex, masturbation and other explicit acts. If convicted of all charges, the 41-year-old performer, whose given name is Robert Kelly, could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.

His lawyers said earlier in the trial that the two people on the tape are not Kelly or the girl, identified by prosecutors earlier in court as Landfair, now in her 20s. She also contends she is not on the tape and has refused to testify for the prosecution.

Jamison said Kelly would give Landfair "not less that $100 ... no more than $500" in cash to go shopping. They had met Kelly at Hoops, a basketball gym in Chicago, accompanied by Landfair's parents when the girls were "about 12," she said.

She said she estimated Roshona's age on the tape at 13 or 14. Prosecutors have said the tape was made between January 1998 and November 2000, when the girl was 13 or 14.

Jamison said the two girls would do "nothing" on a dozen visits to Kelly's Chicago studio, "Tracks," while he did "recording stuff."

Landfair would often stay on after Jamison went home, she added. The two girls later broke off their friendship, she said, though she did not explain why.

Jamison also identified photos of Kelly's since-sold Chicago house and its log-cabin style sauna room where prosecutors say the tape was made, and which is a setting visible on the video.

Despite the charges lodged against him six years ago, Kelly has earned millions from concert tours and album sales while free on bond. After early 1990s hits such as "Sex Me" and "Bump n' Grind," Kelly won three Grammy Awards for his 1996 single "I Believe I Can Fly," and has scored 20 other Grammy nominations.

Jamison remained insistent under tough cross-examination later in the day from defense attorney Sam Adam Jr.

Adam said the reason the alleged victim never told the witness she was having a sexual relationship with Kelly was because there wasn't one and "because it's not her on the tape."

"Are you asking or telling me?" Jamison shot back.

During the cross-examination, the defense also revealed their strategy may be to suggest Kelly's image was computer-generated. "Something could have been done to put a different head on that body," Adam said. He also referred to movies where characters had been digitally altered.

Here's what that same girl's (the one who testified) father said:

Jamison's father, Peter Thomas, testified that the alleged victim's involvement in the video was the talk of their neighborhood. When his daughter heard about it in 2002, he said she would cry herself to sleep but wouldn't discuss it.

He watched the video for the first time before testifying Wednesday and identified the girl, guessing that she must have been about 14 or 15 in the video.

On Wednesday an uncle and his ex-wife testified that their niece is the one having sex with R. Kelly in the sex tape. They said a family meeting was convened upon discovery in December 2001. The contents of that meeting could not be discussed in court. This is the family of Stephanie "Sparkle" Edwards who is the aunt of the alleged victim. Police did not receive the videotape until February 2002.

The defense lambasted that decision. They accused the family of trying to extort money from Kelly because Sparkle's singing contract was terminated by Kelly. Plus they say the video is fake. The defense asked the ex-wife why she didn't go to the police. She is a Chicago police officer. She said the girl's parents didn't want to cooperate.

at "the video's fake" then why were you trying to prove that the man in the tape didn't have a mole on Tuesday?
