"UFO" is the classic b-boy schitt so right there that makes the EP essential for me. All the other songs on their EP are good too though. | |

All the other songs on their EP are good too though. i got their "south bronx story" compilation recently and it was one of those semi-informed purchases where i didn't really know what i was getting into, but i loved it on first listen. i knew they were a big part of the NYC no-wave scene, but i didn't know much more than that. i can't help but listen to this and think that ESG would have a good case if they ever wanted to sue the talking heads for forging the funk.  | |

i'm very impressed that there's a small but devoted group of ESG fans on the org! 
like i said, i just dipped into their music for the first time this week after a long time of hearing them namechecked in writings about the no-wave scene, and i love what i'm hearing! i have volume 2 of their greatest hits anthology downloading as we speak! 
are there any "essential" tracks or albums by ESG that i should be on the lookout for? i think their two anthologies pretty much cover all the bases, no? | |
