2 quote VainAndy..."SHIT HOP" happened. Daydream is my favorite MC album. Butterfly is my 2nd. I think Tommy had more control over the delivery of the songs during that time. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

To put it simply Mariah is a singles artist, never has been close to being an album artist, despite, fans saying they have fave albums, when you quiz them on the albums they say certain tracks are filler, and to me FILLER doesnt make an album artist. She is very much like Elvis being that both for the most part, will be remembered for songs not albums, just try and name an Elvis album that makes anyones list.
As for where she has gone, well, tow songs come to my mind. "Sure looks good to me" by Alicia Keys, and "ordinary world" by Katharine Mcphee (ironically written with Walter) these two tracks are what Mariah should be doing or even attempting. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Doesnt make it a good album, lets remember Vanilla Ice's debut is still one of the biggest selling rap albums and debut albums in history, it was in every house, though no one admits it. Doesnt make it a good album. It doesn't make it bad either but thats neither here nor there. The whole notion of "bad vs good" music is SO overrated and it keep people from enjoying a certain type of music sometimes. But back to Mariah,,,, I've always thought she put her Deniece Williams influence on display, others looked @ me then with a raised eyebrow, but ALL of that stopped when she made Subtle Invitation years later. I wish she could settle her differences with Walter. It don't make no damn sense how she keeps fuckin' with SO much fluff nowadays, man [Edited 5/15/08 16:47pm]

I actually enjoy 'Emanicipation of Mimi' and 'Glitter Soundtrack' in their entireties, but, for the most part, yes, Mariah is more of a singles artist than a whole album artist...but hasn't she always been that? Prince Rogers Nelson

These two songs were my favorite from daydream which is my favorite album by her. This album was classic. I listened to that new shit she has out and it is horrendous. I never thought mariah would sink that low to release a garbage album like E=MC2. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Well, to me, none of the shit she is putting out now can compare to "Vision of Love" that's still my shit to this day. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Underneath the Stars is one of my favorites. She isn't capable of this anymore. Not this kind of vocal performance and nothing close to this kind of song. It's sad, really.
It's sad to see so many top-notch female pop stars regressing as they get older. Mariah, Toni, Janet.... sacrificing what made them special, unique and great (or at least enjoyable) artists in order to keep up with the next generation. They never will, so why do they bother trying at the expense of what made them worthwhile in the first place? "Try to remember how you used to feel about me
and think about how you're treating me now. Then try to reconcile them, if you can. But you don't even remember, do you?"

If it looks like shit and smell like shit, than dammit its that sickly lookin' brown stuff I actually gave it the time of day(since its Mariah) and listened to it 3 times. There's not ONE moment where I didn't caught myself cringing.

Yeah, I'm going to need to listen to the "Emotions" album today, just to cleanse my palate.

I stopped buying Mariah's albums after Butterfly (which i consider to be one of her best), however her earlier stuff is probably the maturest stuff shes done.
I dont mind her new stuff - im just not compelled to buy it. I like the odd song i hear, Touch My Body was nice - but not enough to download it. Mimi was a solid album, but i dont think it had the highs of her previous stuff. Ive taken a bit of a listen to her new cd and it does nothing for me. I actually dont think she has the voice to go back and sing as she used to.

I always thought of her as a singles artist for years. I would buy her albums and only like a few album tracks. But years after Butterfly came out, I found myself loving that album as a whole. I liked Mimi as a whole too for the most part, and almost Charmbracelet, minus all the shit hopera guest rappers and her nasally vocals. Her vocals sounded best on Emotions.
