"If I Gave You A Party (Would You Come)?" by Sexual Harrassment (1983)---who remembers this Prince-like jam? Who remembers this 1983 Prince-sounding jam by Sexual Harrassment? These are the guys who sing "I Need A Freak".Their album is an underrated funk classic...it's like an updated 'Dirty Mind'.

DJ506 said: SoulAlive said: You ever heard the album? No It's a very Prince-like album. These guys were HUGE fans of Prince and the Minneapolis sound. In fact,in 1985 they released a single called "We Want Prince"....a tribute song to their hero. In addition to "I Need A Freak" and "If I Gave You A Party",that first album also includes "K-I-S-S-I-N-G",another naughty Prince-styled funk jam,and the hilarious "Exercise Your Ass Off". It's worth hunting down.

Apparently it is a top 50 wantlist item on turntablelab.com I actually know that song. I taped it from the radio back in 85-86. It's one of those songs I'll always remember. Never actually thought anyone else knew it...let alone that they had an LP.

I always liked "I Need a Freak," but am I the only one who finds the rap to be a little Rod Serling-ish? I always picture the rapper on this song holding a cigarette and wearing a black suit. [Edited 5/14/08 8:02am] Michael never stopped!

"Okay girls, we're gonna try and take off a few pounds; you know, some of those areas where you need a little weight assessment!? But you're gonna have to work reeeeal HARD at it. You're gonna have to put your heart in it so you can achieve those goals you're gonna try to achieve today. We're shedding a few pounds off of those tender areas, okay!? Now, I want everybody to get ready; remember to stretch real far -- we're gonna bend down and touch our toes ... LET'S GO! I swear, it's like an 80's coke-rush was caught on tape and put to a quirky, yet funky work-out instrumental! http://www.last.fm/user/somebodyunot

I know We Want Prince is uber-rare, but the I Need A Freak EP seems to be pretty obtainable.
I own a copy or two. http://www.last.fm/user/somebodyunot

I was just about to post this song! I got the "I Need A Freak" EP last week but wasn't sure if any of you knew about the group "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Truly, Truly. I bought the 12" of We Want Prince. The song sucked. I need a freak was cute the first couple of times but got old very quick. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Never actually thought anyone else knew it...let alone that they had an LP. They were a very 'underground' band.In my area, only "I Need A Freak" got any airplay. It bbecame a huge radio and club hit in late 1983 here in the Bay Area. They released a 6-song EP in 1983 and the "We Want Prince" 12" single in 1985 before they just disappeared.

Yeah, that was their only real "hit" But you should try to find the album. It's a 6-song EP that kicks ass! If you like the Prince sound of 1981-1983,you will dig this album. They borrow alot from the Minneapolis sound.X-rated lyrics, double entrendes, funky synth lines....it's all there. .
