It's my favorite song from her and probably the best song she's ever done career wise. I think her voice/singing sounds the best its ever sounded on this track too--doesnt have the usual shrieky/Minnie Mouse sound to it lol

Yeah MJ is very underrated as a producer.I like what he does here. The track is haunting and dramatic.... similiar to the best stuff on 'Triumph'.He's the only producer who ever made LaToya sound halfway decent on a song.

I like "If You Feel The Funk" which is probably the only track on that album I've listened to. Is "Nighttime Lover" on that same album? I haven't listened to it in a while.

This was originally written for Donna Summer

I wish Michael's demo version would be released. Maybe if they do an 30th anniversary of Off The Wall lol

Cool song. One can really tell that Mike wrote it.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I love all those songs and I agree that he's underrated as a producer . Most people i've come across aren't even aware that Michael has written or produced anything, they think he's just a "song and dance" man, but he's produced some good stuff.

Hmmm, none of these songs is what i'd call his best work by any means lol, but thx for sharing.

What about "Eaten Alive" though? He wrote and produced it along with Barry Gibb,I really dig that song (mainly because of MJ's ad-libs in it). I think my fave song he's written and produced though is "Fly Away" which he wrote and produced for the "Bad" album but it ended up making it onto Rebbie's album "Faithfully Yours" years later.

I also liked the work he did on Blackstreet's "Joy" which he co-wrote with Teddy Riley. I don't know if he produced it though, either way, it's one of my faves.

Sorry its generic disco, but for a Latoya song its good. Michael may have produced it, but its probably because Joseph forced him too. In 1980 He was managing Michael's and LaToyas careers. The best Jackson song of 1980 I think was actually Jermaine's "Lets get serious"

I love the song, it reminds me of Sister Slege We Are Family, but more melodic. There is also a song on her second album I like that reminds of janet's young love, but I can't recall the name right now.

doh confused thanks for the info. I think he had / has still alot to give to to other artists but doesnt seem intrested. The MJJ Music record label venture was short lived and all the work with other artists in the 90's early 2000's seem unfinished.

Sometimes I think...that song is so good,Stevie probably should have kept it for himself hmmm Imagine if "Let's Get Serious" was the opening song on 'Hotter Than July' (instead of the so-so "Did I Hear You Say You Love Me").

One of the worst songs of the 80's. and I really wonder why everybody thinks Mike produces anything. You guys should read the book written by one of the former VP at CBS. Mike did not want Quincy Jones listed as the producer on "Thriller" he wanted credit for the whole record.
I will try to find a link for the book on Amazon.

The New York Daily News reports that in his memoir, 'Howling at the Moon: The Odyssey of a Monstrous Music Mogul in an Age of Excess,' former CBS Records president Walter Yetnikoff calls Michael Jackson "a world-class whiner" who confessed early on, "I never liked the way I looked." Jackson used to whisper in his ear at awards ceremonies: "I have to tinkle. Can you take me to the potty?" Jackson once called to ask if Yetnikoff could block Quincy Jones from getting a Grammy for 'Thriller' because "Quincy didn't really produce the record, I did. Quincy has a enough Grammys."

People think Michael produces stuff because he does. Whether or not you think it's good stuff is another story, but the fact that he has produced a number of things isn't really up for debate.

Even if you take that quote as 100% true, nowhere does it negate the fact that Michael produces. In fact, it doesn't even mention it. It just gives him a quick characterisation, and notes that he felt he didn't get enough credit for his work on Thriller, which is something a couple of people have mentioned over the years. If wagging tongues are to be believed, he was particularly peeved that he was not given a production credit for Beat It, when the final arrangement sounds almost identical to his original demo.

So basically, I have no idea where you're going with this. Please clarify? smile
