Maybe using a program like "MixMeister" and letting it do all the work for U is cheating. But Serato doesn't have an Automix feature. U still have to pick the tunes and mix them.

It depends on what style you play. For commercial club DJs or wedding jocks, I understand Serato's advantages. It allows you to carry a large selection of music and you can still scratch it up.

In the Funk scene, Serato is taboo. Simply because the Funksters appreciate vinyl and are Nazis about it. Some Funk DJs switched to Serato, but they usually get dissed by crowd and other DJs alike. Of course DJ skills matter, but what makes a Funk DJ a great DJ is his records. I've been diggin' since I was 15 and it sometimes takes me years and a nice chunk of money to aquire certain records. So when a 18 year old rookie DJ comes along, unfolds his laptop and starts playing rare tracks that he just downloaded for 99c or free - yeah, that's pretty much shittin' over the Funk DJ culture and the respect DJs have earned by paying their dues for many years.
