Vinyl 45 - Burn Rubber by the Gap Band

Vinyl Album - Midnight Magic & Heroes by The Commodores ( My first purchase was a two-fer).

Vinyl 12 Inch Single - 1999 by Prince ( I think. I bought a few singles at first, but then only stuck to mostly albums, after. Since my brother was a vinyl 12" addict, I stopped buying 'em & just listened to his. And while I may have picked up one every once in a while, I just can't remember specifically which were mine & which were his.

8 Track Tape - None. Even at a very young age, I always thought these things were big clunky messes.

Cassette Tape (album) - 1999 by the ol' Skipper.

Cassette Single - Same long ass answer as the one for vinyl 12 inch, bitchez.

Cassette Maxi Single - Same as previous answer. However, I do remember once coming upon a box of old stuff that I had from college, & finding a Samantha Fox cassette maxi single for "Naughty Girls Need Love Too". Which was surprising, cuz I never like her music, & my brother swore up & down that he didn't either. I dunno how it came into my possession. Maybe I got drunk one night, wandered into a music store & was swayed by her big tits.
I'unno.

shrug

CD (album), CD Single & CD Maxi Single - Okay, now we're at the point in my life were I didn't pay much attention to what format I was buying my music. I don't even remember what my first CD player looked like.

I don't even like the song! I just bought it because I wanted to hear how Tori Amos sounded singing background on the track. (This was pre-internet access for me obviously.) All of the other releases I've sold on ebay, but that one I never even tried to sell so it's collecting dust on my short shelf of cassette singles. lol

They have one song on each side and look like a 12 inch single except a 78 is only 10 inches. The vinyl is extremely thick also. Just like an album rotates at 33 rpm and a 45 rotates at 45 rpm, well, a 78 rotates at 78 rpm. 78s were from the early 1900s and lasted until the mid to late 1950s.

My grandmother used to have a few 78s and a record player with the speeds, 33, 45, and 78. My first stereo I bought in 1979 had a 78 speed on it. I haven't seen any stereos or turntables with a 78 speed on it since the 1970s.

My shelf of cassette singles is the worst music that you'll see in my collection: Britney Spears, Jordan Knight, All Saints, Shania Twain, etc. Guilty pleasures all.
