Eyrkah Badu Rips Up Radio City

I just got back from seeing Ms Badu at Radio City Music Hall in NYC and let me just say this: THE SHOW WAS OFF THE CHAIN!..Ms Badu proves that u don't need 2 shake ur ass, wear flimsy close in order 2 put on a good show and letting ur voice b a musical instrument. Unlike a certain person who hardly plays music from their current album, MS Badu embraced the material from New AmErykah and kept it moving. This is my first time seeing her live and I can truly say that if she comes ur way, GO SEE HER u will NOT b disappointed. The way she did Soldier will set u on fire!!! other classics like On and on, appletree, Tyrone were done, but Orange Moon, Bag Lady were amongst the highlights. Her voice live is NOT memorex and the band is TIGHT!! The way Ms Badu directs the band, u can tell who's in charge!!

I can 4get my brothers the Roots that opened up 4 her. ?uestlove is pheonomial behind those drums!! Black Thought can spit those ryhmes like Fire!! What I love about the Roots is that they have live musicians that can play setting themselves apart from other hip hop acts that relay on loops and DAT's. Ain't happening here!!

So Supa, Rhonda B and anyone else that is in2 Ms Badu, if she comes 2 ur area, GO C HER!!! Prince should and take note, it's about embracing ur latest project and presenting it 2 the masses like Ms Badu did 2night.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

one of my best pals from detroit saw her last week and said this""- a digital sampler/drum machine on a stand with a theramin built into it. Do you know what a theramin is? You warp the sound from the sampler by waving your hands above it and around it. She was getting extremely funky. "

a theramin?

that sounds amazing

I was at the show too and I can totally 100% agree with L4OA. Erykah is a MUST SEE when she comes to your town. The energy she has and the funk from her band is just sick! Hearing her do Bag Lady, Soldier, One & On, Tyrone, Otherside of the Game, The Healer & Green Eyes was amazing. One of the things I noticed from the show was that the crowd was REALLY feeling the songs off of Mama's Gun. I just heard the CD for the first time today and I can see why they did cause that album is amazing. Next to Prince, she's my new favorite artist to see live, I will see her again when she comes back. Erykah's an incredible artist and I can now say that she is now a bonafide favorite of mine.

Just getting in from the show. Badu tore it up! I don't see how the people were sitting down. Much love was pouring down from upstairs. Roots were great as always. Maybe we can record this tour and play it in the schools to inspire a new generation to be artists and play real music. The next president is gonna need a theme song.

Last night was my 3rd or 4th time seeing her and one thing I'll never understand is how anyone sits down at a Badu show??? The only reason I sat is because the people behind me couldn't see and I must say it's quite frustrating especially when she does something like Twinkle or Danger which always gets me on my feet. I thought the guy sitting next to me was a corpse because he didn't move the entire time. I guess he was just escorting his gf/wife who was getting down on the other side of him. Anywho, that whole segment Erykah did with balls was ultra cool. She's ruined me for a few performers.

This was the best (and longest) Badu concert I've seen so far. And she did Annie Don't Wear No Panties! No Back in the Day or Honey tho.

The Roots were hot hot hot. I love Captain Kirk and he tore it up as usual.

Captain Kirk was there and he did an excellent job on the guitar! We were feeling him, no doubt.

I agree with you 1000%. Hardly anyone was standing in my area and we were on the 3rd floor and I was shocked. I had the hardest time sitting and jamming, Prince spoiled me lol, but I had to sit like you said, to respect the crowd. I thought a fight was going to break out near me because a lady in the front was was standing and the lady on my row couldn't see. Her man came down and looked like he was going to whup the standing lady's man's ass but nothing happened. Incredible show and a guy proposed to his girlfriend near the end of the show and she said yes! I will totally remember this show for years to come. nod

That is the 2nd time I've seen an on-stage concert proposal! The other time was at a Jill Scott concert and if I recall correctly the guy was a member in her band and it was also at Radio City. Must be something about that place.

I was on the main level near the back but I envied the people toward the front. At least they got to stand and see her up close especially when she came out into the crowd.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Radio City Music Hall is just simply amazing. There's no place like it and I couldn't think of a better place to do that kind of thing than in Radio City. I wish I could have seen everything better too.

Anyone know what that Asian-sounding song was that she sang? That did it for me. My mouth literally dropped open.
