Well Chase me is not to be fucked with..but then again neither is All The Way Live..which brings up my question #64. WEhy the hell isnt All The Way Live ever played by Lakeside..instead all you ever hear is fuckin Fatastic Voyage, a lesser song imho. All Th e Way Live was the introduction and their best. Fantastic Voyage has become their Brick House .

The BarKays were co-designers of The Funk, while the other bands mentioned just learned to play it! Larry and the kids go way back when Lakeside & Brick were still in nursery funk school. Though all the above mentioned bands together would provide for a well rounded funk down for sure!

All these bands have 3 or 4 traxx that are totally slammin' stank funk, then it's SNOOZE-CITY on the rest of their stuff.

I will say BAR-KAYS totally scared muggs when they dropped their "Black Rock" trip at WATTSTAX. We wuz up in there back in '72; totally jaw-dropping stuff.

Such a different band in the late 70s though.

All of these bands are GREAT,but I would have to choose Con Funk Shun.I saw them in concert several years ago,and these brothas were FIERCE!! Songs like "Got To Be Enough","Chase Me" and "Ffun" are funk classics.

The "SoulFinger" Barkays were Wicked.they kept the Funk tight in the 70's&Early 80's.but they also fell into the Ray Parker Jr&Puffy Trap of Covering Jams&Flipping them a different title.i did dig the Jam they did with Sly Stone on there Album from 1989.now on Stage Larry Dodson was no joke.Cat use too do Backwards Flips&was Good on Harmonica as well.I Remember Reading a 1989 Interview in ROlling Stone on Axel Rose&Axel was given the Barkays Much Props for there Stage Vibe.Stevie Ray Vaughan use too Cover there Jams during His Concerts as well.it's like tie for me with Con Funk Shun&Barkays overall.Lakeside gets much props for being a Synth based Funk Band that didn't get all burried in that element&still Grooves too this day IMHO.Brick could hang with all the other Bands Mentioned but were so Stiff on stage&it hurt them for that reason alone.you gotta have steps or something.
