Artists never really "retire" They may say that they are,but they always come back for several,never-ending "farewell tours",lol. the only time a rock star retires is when it involves their funeral. even then, they'll keep releasing new albums for a few more years. i think tupac is producing the new johnny cash album, by the way.

What's age got to do with it?
I sure hope this comes off well. She sure is looking hot for 69 (which she will officially be by the time the tour ends) but she hasn't performed in a long, long time. I feel ambivalent in somewhat the same way I did about James Brown in his final year. I chose not to go to his concert in my town because I felt it would be too painful to see him up there as a shadow of his former self trying to scream and do those dance moves. Well, Tina's tour doesn't start till Oct. so I guess she's got time to get herself performance ready again. I hope she kills. Tina Turner Unveils First Concert Tour in 8 years Fri May 9, 8:06 PM ET LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Soul legend Tina Turner on Friday unveiled plans to tour for the first time in eight years after her friend and film icon Sophia Loren told her it was time to hit the road again. Turner, 68, came out of retirement when she sang her hit song "Proud Mary" with R&B singer Beyonce at February's Grammy Awards, and the pair brought the crowd to its feet. Turner, who has been living in Europe, said that after the duet fans begged her to go back on tour. An eight-time Grammy winner, Turner will bring her show to 17 cities across the United States and Canada, starting with an October 1 performance in Kansas City, Missouri, and wrapping up in Montreal, Canada on December 8. "My blessing is that most of my audiences are right there with me," Turner said in an interview on "The Early Show" on the U.S. television network CBS. "They're so ready," Turner said. "It's just like -- even when they're in their chairs, they don't stay in their chairs very long!" Turner said her friend Loren, the Italian-born actress and 1960s sex symbol, told Turner she had "rested" long enough since her last tour. Reuters/Nielsen

Tina isn't coming to Detroit, either. That is a sad trend. Seems like Motown is being ignore more and more often when it comes to good pop and rock shows.

Explain to me the good coming from an artist not coming to a town? I guess it might make sense only if you're a Republican, huh?

Do other big-name acts play Detroit anymore? I'm beginning to wonder if Detroit is still considered a major market for major tours.

I know Tom Petty's show is coming here and that is a pretty big show. Maybe it's a pop thing because Detroit apparently is a big rock city and becuase of the African American population, I don't think most R&B/hip-hop tours would skip coming here.

Well shit, I'm just now reading this on the 13th so I'm sure all the good seats are gone if the San Jose date went on sale today That said, I hate that she'd make me drive out to bloody San Jose but I'd really like to see her live just once, that would be insanely FUN
