AGREED..they should call the radio formats "New Country" most
of it sounds like bad pop music that Top 40 won't play anymore
because it has become so disgustingly urban leaning...why else
do you think Bon Jovi and Jewel and the goober from Hootie are
all putting out "Country" albums...they can't get played on Top
40 anymore...hey maybe Madonna's country album will be next

Thanks for the recommendation Lazy! The country stuff on the Lost Highway label (Ryan Adams' label) is usually really good, so I expect this guy is no different. Plus i see he's playing a bunch of dates with the Old 97s but no Atlanta date! cry

The country market is a lot different than it used to be. You can hate on it all you want, but I'll bet you a lot of your friends are into it and you don't even know it. A lot of city folks are into the country thing these days. A lot of these artists grew up on the same rock music that the rock artists did and they're finding a way to incorporate it into their sound. Listen to some Keith Urban and tell me its a bad thing. razz

Wow I'm surprised that a music thread I made actually got hits, they usually just die a lonely sad death.

While I agree that Country music on radio pretty much sucks, thank you Garth, I still believe that there is good decent country artist out there, working hard doing what they are doing.

To me Hayes seems more like a Lyle Lovett type of songwriter. Plus I love how he changes his vocals depending on the song that hes singing, he goes from a lyle lovett type to a bob dylan style.

Though i will say that "bad liver and a broken heart" is a fucking awesome tune.
