I was trying to remember what the name was ...strange, I wore that song out back then, but now I never hear it played on the radio stations that play older music that was a great song! I can't remember what single I bought with my own money (allowance) first!
I know for sure I was the one in the family who asked my mom to buy a 45 of Eurythmics' "Missionary Man" based on seeing the video on MuchMusic. I wish I could remember my first cassingle. Lord knows I had a LOT of those.

My mom bought it for me, but it was MJ's "Don't Stop til You Get Enough". In 1980 I bought the OTW album with my own money, but I can't remember the first single I actually bought. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Lord knows I had a LOT of those. we got the Revenge album back in 1986 because my mom loved the singles, especially "thorn in my side" and "when tomorrow comes". she had those on all day long. which suited me just fine cuz i loved that album. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I'm pretty sure this was the first single I bought with my own money. 1990 is when I really started spending money on music. I can't imagine how many thousands of dollars I've spent in the last 18 years... Digital Underground - The Humpty Dance Still jammin' Don't forget about Mr.Do Right and the steamy video that accompanied the song. Don't laugh at my funk

Damn, I was thinking about this the other day and thought about making a thread about it. Anyway, I think I'll still make the thread because it's going to be first of everything such as....45, vinyl album, 8 track, cassette album, cassette single, CD album, CD single, etc.
Anyway, to answer your question, my first 45 was: Le Freak - Chic Andy is a four letter word.

Yeah, they had the one hit and then totally vanished into obscurity. And as for guitars, I think i've got one of those too gathering dust in a corner somewhere.
