Sorry Orgers, Rhianna Beats Madonna, Janet, Britney AND Mariah! The New Queen!

I bought Rhianna's cd "Good Girl Gone Bad" really late, like 4-5 months late, and I wasn't expecting much other then the fact that I couldn't believe that I waited so long given the fact that I did, do and always will LOVE "Umbrella". So I was more then pleasantly surprised when I discovered how strong a pop album it is. I was also surprised at how slow it continues to sell.

Rhianna's album is better then ANY Britney album ever released! Ever! Faint praise? Maybe, but considering how popular and how much ink Britney gets it's a downright travesty.

I haven't heard Mariah's album only a few tracks, but nothing I've heard yet has surpassed the stellar work on Rhianna's disc. Janet's album is actually not bad but I sadly think it's time for her to retire. Madonna? Aside from a few catchy tracks her album just isn't strong. For the first time I can say she 100% sold out on this one. Never the strongest singer, her voice really grates on this thing. And one of the delights of Madonna is her "re-inventions". What theme will she come up with next. I personally find it fascinating to see what her theme will be this time. What does she do? Revisit S&M??? Didn't she open, tear out the pages and THROW the book into the fire on that subject over a decade ago? I suppose I'm being too hard on her, expecting her to just magically reinvent herself again, but I'm spoiled. So yeah I'm a little let down by it, but not Rhianna no sir!

She's the NEW QUEEN OF POP!

Really? Cuz I find Madonna, Janet, Britney, and Mariah's albums to be a lot more solid than Rihannas'.

It's a fantastic pop record.

Unfortunately, as a pop STAR, Rihanna will never replace Madonna, Janet or Britney because she can't perform for shit. She really is dull as fuck up there on stage, and that's going to prevent her from having true longeivity.

I like Britney's "Blackout" album better.

This is a problem even though she did show signs of life with The Foo Fighters during that trainwreck known as the VMA's.

Rihanna is only as good as the people behind her and thats why she will never be what Madonna, Mariah or any of the others are, honestly she couldnt even be what Britney was, and even at Britneys lowest "mental" point she did her best album. Rihanna is just too damn flat as a performer and singer, i hear alot of bitching about other singers in her genre, but she is a carbon copy of them, with, the difference she just has worked with the more "it" producers and writers of the day, but as far as her having any significant longevity or impact, sorry, dont see it by any means.

As for Britney, I think it is her best album overall. I didn't like it at first but have completely warmed up to it now. It's quite sterile and remote, but I can deal with it. The grooves are firmly in place.

I have to agree. They don't make them like Madonna or Janet or Mariah (time will tell with Britney...she is in danger of being more known for that crazy personal life than her records). I don't know that Rhiana is here for the long haul but seems to be doing better and better each year with pop appeal of her songs (albums?).

Single wise she can have a hit or two, but she is not a strong album artist, and i know, that no one sells records anymore, but, sorry, to be in that class, of Britney,Madonna etc...You have to have a "cornerstone" record, like a "like a prayer or virgin" or "control"

I really think Mariah is the only of these ladies that can sing. Her Christine Aguilarra (SP) are miles ahead of the others.

To Rhianna I can't listen through one Umbrella chorus without wanting to punch something. It mixed so high and so tone def...yuck

I'll have to find someone with the album to see if I'm missing something.

She definitely did well (although how much is actually HER and not her producers remains to be seen). I still can't watch her perform live yet but she's improving. I'm interested to see what direction her next album will take.

Don't Stop The Music is better than Umbrella though.

And Blackout (Britney) is definitely the best/most solid album out of this bunch though I love tracks on all of them.

wow this is so creepy cause I did the same thing! I finally picked up Good Girl Gone Bad on Sunday though I'd been playing half the tracks for the past year!!! All the singles are amazing and the non released ones are quite good too. I love it as a full album and would definitely rank it up there with madonna, janet, mariah and mj for sure. I remember how she was talking about being influenced by mj and the whole "Bad" album concept when she was talking about becoming edgy. I also found it awesome how I recognized the mj, lionel richie and new order samples and cracked up when the credits confirmed them all hahah
