I really wonder why nobody mentioned his best album yet?
The first Polydor album Ubiquity. His masterpiece. Pretty Brownskin , The Fuzz and Hummin' alone make it his best record. He's coming is probably my favorite, because it has He's a superstar on it, which I'd consider Roy's best track to date. And it has We live in Brooklyn - what else is there to say? Change up the Groove - a heavy, heavy, heavy record. Almost every song is a winner, like the title track, Sensitize, Fikisha, Boogie Back and especially When is real, real? Red, Black and Green is another one of his strongest. The title track, then Henceforth and Cocoa Butter - whoa! Coffy. Nuff said. The title track and A Shining Symbol. Amazing. A tear to a smile should also be listed here, because of tracks like 2000 Black and Ebony Blaze. The albums that followed are solid, too, but I think Roy never reached the same quality again. | |
