Los Lobos appreciation thread

I think Los Lobos is really underappreciated. I saw them at Glastonbury in 2003 and they rocked it. The first time I saw them was at an Earth Day show in Boston in 1996. I couldn't believe how rocky they were.
The Good Morning Aztlan album is awesome.

this album has them doing some songs by themselves such as Rita, but makes "The Ride" interesting is that they teamed with other artists doing Los Lobos tunes(some are co-written with the different artists)

La Venganza De Los Pelados (featuring Cafe Tacuba) a new song for this album with an awesome falsetto

Is This All There Is? (featuring Little Willie G) a song from "By the Light of the Moon" which my favorite

Somewhere In Time (featuring Dave Alvin) a new song which Dave also put on one of his albums

Wicked Rain/Across 110th Street (featuring Bobby Womack) a medley which works extremely well

Kitate (featuring Tom Waits and Martha Gonzalez) freaky tune

Ya Se Va (featuring Ruben Blades) no comment

Wreck of the Carlos Rey (featuring Richard Thompson) nice rave-up

Matter of Time (featuring Elvis Costello) from "How Will the Wolf Survive" which I think Elvis did the vocals in church/cathedral...captures a common immigrant experience regardless of national orgin

Someday (featuring Mavis Staples) a spiritual tune which she does justice to...what a suprise

Another movie song i know some of have heard is for the opening scene from Desperado that Antonio Banderas sings

They may release a Childrens Album that features "The Monkey Song" from Disney's Jungle Book... they've done the song a few times live this year

i guess i'm a Los Lobos fan nuts

agreed...if you don't own Kiko then you don't know music. The Ride is good too but not a masterpiece.

u r correct about the Ride, but some the songs on it i would consider masterpieces...KIKO is the album, but i prefer By the Light of the Moon, or This Time

Los Lobos has some dates coming up this summer with Los Lonely Boys...Los Lobos are real good about jamming with other artists so this should be a good tour
