this is the woman who went through high school without shaving her legs or armpits and currently owns the majority of the complete works of Frida Kahlo. you want her to take care of her daughters eyebrows?

That was high school in the 70s when lots of people didn't shave OR wax. It's 2008 and there's NO excuse for her daughter to have to walk around like this. None.Whatsoever. hmph!

maybe she wants to be like the paintings lining the walls of her houses.

she reminds me of myself when I was growing up. The minute I reached 8th grade, I was removing it regularly and it hasn't changed since. If they're rich, they should be able to do it in a matter of 2 minutes man. It's like one friend I have, her mom was a hairdresser who also did hair removal, and my friend was gorgeous, but the eyebrows and upper lip fucked her over and I couldn't understand why her mom wouldn't do them for her though she was in 9th grade.

Maybe Lourdes is like her mama - she doesn't give a crap?

Plucking/waxing is pretty painful, maybe Madge doesn't want her to go through the pain just yet?

You're missing the point. Of course, a 50 yr old woman is not gonna move like a 25 year old, but the point is Madonna seems oblivious to that fact. I don't think Madonna is aware of the vibe the whole thing has. In her mind I'm sure she thinks she's kicking ass.

Interestingly enough, there was a thread last year asking whether she and MJ were desperate for hits. I said no, but having seen this whole Timberlake thing I have to change my mind and say yes, she is desperate. Painfully so.

I'm not missing anything.

I think Madonna would be completely aware of that fact, but as it's ALWAYS been with Madge - she couldn't give a fuck. She's 50 and she's still making music and getting out there - why stop now?

I really hate this whole "she's so old! stop bitch stop!" stance everyone has against her. I agree she could spread her legs less (as could most pop stars these days) but really, does her career have to end just because she's old? Is anyone doubting Prince or MJ continuing to perform because of THEIR age? You'll probably argue that those two are more talented than Madge but who's the last one to have a worldwide smash? Madonna.

The other's have had a hit since the mid 90's yet Madonna still had everyone jamming as recent as 2005 (and now that Give It To Me is being released - 2008 as well! lol)

I like the Pharrell produced trax on her album - the Timbo/JT ones are unoriginal and sound try hard (they would sound it even without Madonna in them).

I'm afraid you are. What's more you're COMPLETELY misrepresenting the argument. No-one is saying an artist has to retire just because they get old, so why you're getting on your high horse about something no-one has said is a mystery to me. What we're saying is that everyone, whoever they are, has to adjust their conduct as they get older or risk looking ridiculous. If I see my uncle at a family dinner doing the running man to a Kanye West song and shouting "Yo, yo", I'm going to be embarrassed for him. Simple as that. Same goes for Madonna. Her attempts to shake it with the kids just look plain wrong. That's the point.

I also have no idea why you're boasting about how she's doing better than MJ and Prince either. That has NOTHING to do with this topic. Please stick to the subject and leave the red herrings at home.

You've clearly never read any Madonna thread before now. Who says I'm "getting on my high horse"? Am I not entitled to an opinion on here? Does it have to sit with what you think is right for Madonna before it's valid?

What we're saying is that everyone, whoever they are, has to adjust their conduct as they get older or risk looking ridiculous. I agree with you but your uncle isn't (that I know of) an international pop icon. Her whole selling point is to shock, get people talking and change it up. Who would expect a 50 yr old woman to be doing what she's doing? That's Madge's whole point. Go in the exact opposite direction everyone WANTS you to go in. The more the haters bleat "QUIT GRANDMA QUIT!" the longer she'll stick around!

I also have no idea why you're boasting about how she's doing better than MJ and Prince either. That has NOTHING to do with this topic. Please stick to the subject and leave the red herrings at home.

Well, then you need to read the thread better because no one else had trouble understanding.

People go on and on about how Madge is no longer relevant, able, talented blah fucking blah - but whos the one still topping the charts (whether for the right or wrong reasons)?

Stop twisting things. I've never said you have to agree with me. What I'm saying is you need to learn to stay on topic, and stop throwing up red herrings. No-one has said artists should retire when they get older. I like Cyndi Lauper. She's 55 and still great. But if she started singing about her booty and molesting a member of the Mickey Mouse club on stage, it would be ridiculous and I would be the first to say so.

Right, so if my uncle tries to shake it with the young 'uns, it's embarrassing, but if Madonna does it, it's a statement. Gotcha! thumbs up!

Well, then you need to read the thread better because no one else had trouble understanding.

The subject is how Madonna comes across in her latest video. For some reason you started banging on about MJ and Prince's lack of chart action in recent years. That is a different discussion all together. Please try and stay focused.

Exactly.

And the other thing about it is...you don't like it? Fine. Don't pay attention. Why go on and on about it? Debate the shit outta things you don't even enjoy?

There are others out there that enjoy listening/watching it and there is nothing wrong with that. It's for them, not you.

I think she's generally uncomfortable around young, urban people OF TODAY. The reason I say that is because of the way she was acting on 106. Granted, Terrance and Rosci are stupid as hell, but aside from that I just noticed how she seemed to play off and bullshit her way through some of the questions (as stupid as they were)
"If you could sign any hip-hop artist past or present, who would you sign?" She said she was a fan of Eminem (which I believe because he came up through the "urban" route like she did, so they have that in common. Then she seemed to play to the crowd, saying Jay-Z and of all people "Fiddy Cent" 50 Cent? Come on. We know damn well Madonna wouldn't have signed 50 and probably wouldn't have signed Jay-Z. I think she was just saying what she thought people wanted to hear - sticking with who she knows is popular. She further proved this when Terrance was talking about who she would turn up if they came on the radio in the car and he mentioned "You'd be in the car throwing the rock up" and she nodded but it was obvious from her face that she didn't know what the hell he was talking about but it dawned on her a few seconds later after people threw up the Rockafella sign. rolleyes The whole interview seemed uncomfortable for Madonna and she was very "stiff" and conscious of everything she was saying. Having seen Madonna in other interviews, you can tell that she didn't really seem to know what to say. The only time she broke a smile was when Terrance made reference to having plenty of licks if she was a lollypop. She seemed like she was saying to herself "Why do I have to be here with these kids?" Its completely understandable since she was by far the oldest person in the room (camera crew and staff excluded).

I would feel uncomfortable as well (at my current age of 33) on 106th & Park with a bunch of kids that don't know hardly anything about the last 25+ years of American music history, let alone know anything about why Madonna is consider an international pop culture icon.

I bet those poor kids didn't even know that both of Madonna's debut videos (Borderline & Lucky Star) were played on BET as well as MTV back in the days!!!
