Your Favorite Radiohead CD?

Well, it's odd that I was just getting into Radiohead and then Prince does 'em.

I got hooked on "OK Computer" just the last month or so, then I bought the new CD.

So, I have very limited knowledge of their catalogue.

But, I'm loving both.

Y'all?

Anxiety

my favorites are probably "ok computer", "in rainbows" and "hail to the thief".

my secondary favorites are "kid a" and "the bends" (though the bends is gaining my favor all the time).

i don't dislike "amnesiac", but it's kind of a hard album to love. lol

Ok Computer
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

it's basically just kid a and amnesiac straight up, although i've
replaced "life in a glass house (album version)" for the version
on one of the singles which lasts a bit longer and is labeled as
the "full version".

the "gen children" track is just less than a minute of sounds at
the end of the Kid A album, it's sort of a hidden track but it's
too short to really be one. it's officially been reported that it
is called "gen children"

disc 3 is a combination of all the b-sides from amnesiac, which
all came from the kid a/amnesiac sessions (the sessions sprung
both the albums, with all the songs being recorded during that
era, kinda like crystal ball/camille etc).

those are:

the amazing sounds of orgy (best radiohead song e.v.e.r.)
kinetic
worry wort
cuttooth
fast track
trans atlantic drawl
fog
life in a glass house (full version)

then the track "true love waits" is the last track on the
"i might be wrong" live recordings EP. it's a brilliant
closing track, much in the same vein as kid a has Motion
Picture Soundtrack.

the song "I Want None Of This" is a beautiful minimalist
piano ballad that was released on, i think, on one of the
Warchild "Help" albums iirc. it came from the same era or
sessions as the kid a/amnesiac tracks so it fits in well
here.

the last two remaining songs "paperbag writer" and the
cool instrumental "I Am Citizen Insane" were b-sides to
one of the "Hail To The Thief" singles but i think they
go very well with these tracks and i would go as far as
to say they are probably from the same sessions too.

i think so because some of the tracks on "HTTT" are also
still from those kid a/amnesiac sessions.

Wolf At The Door and i think Scatterbrain are both from
those. and one other that i can't recall right now.

but i didn't include those since they found their way
onto an offical album and feel like to much of a part
of those to put them on disc 3 of Gen Children.

so all in all, Gen Children is just a little project
of mine. i've made artwork but not on the computer, i
did it with color copies and tipewriters. i'd post a
scan but i don't have a scanner. but it's not like you
are missing much there, it's very simple.

not like your special editions or boxed sets that you
posted selfmade artwork for. like that tori amos box
with all her bsides. that artwork was amazing.

I'm gonna have to go with In Rainbows.

I adore OK Computer a lot, and for a long time it was my favourite album of theirs by quite a bit.

In Rainbows is just so accessible, though, quite frankly. I can almost always throw it on and listen to it straight through.

OK Computer is a little too sprawling and overwhelming at times.

In Rainbows is Radiohead at their best, with mellow songs all about love and alienation that capture a wonderful paradox of being all about love yet having very little affection and warmth to them.

Also, Videotape is one of the most simple yet devastating things Thom has ever written. What a beautiful, beautiful song.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

I think it changes. And I don't really like to pick just one.
The tops ones for me...

Kid A - First album from them that really caught my attention. Also a fan of "electronic" infused music.
In Rainbows - As PurpleKnight stated, it's accessible. Doesn't knock you over the head at first but reaps many benefits from repeated listenings.
Hail To The Thief - Dark, convuluted, intense, morose, uneven, varied, but very engaging. It's kinda of a mix of everything then had done to that point.
Love the others as well but these are the ones I go to first.
BTW, most of their B sides are up there as well. Like the KidA/Amnesiac stuff, My Iron Lung ep. How's My Driving ep, Com Lag ep, etc.
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Really, I think it's "The Bends". I love OK Computer, and like a lot of what came afterwards, but I still think it's the perfect Radiohead album. I think Planet Telex kind of points towards what was to come with the next album, and the rest of the album might just be the best Britpop LP ever made.
I'm the first mammal to wear pants.
