i don't see any talking heads on that list.
if you don't have "speaking in tongues", you need to hear it. from there, check out "fear of music" and "remain in light". then try their early stuff and the excellent live set, "the name of this band is talking heads". i'm not big on "little creatures" or "true stories", though that's where the bulk of their hits came from. their last album, "naked", is good stuff. i think it's fairly underappreciated, but by that point nobody in the band really cared about the album as they'd all moved on. ANYway...you should check out talking heads.

Tony Toni Tone
They have a quality of hits and their albums have plenty to fill a music lover's need. I recommend the higly rated "Sons Of Soul" which has upbeat r&b jams, slammin slow cuts and a quasi-hip hop 90's style...if U dont own this already I highly recommend it...fits right in with the "janet." era. Other than that for a quickie of their cuts get "Hits". [Edited 4/28/08 8:39am] Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

[wow, you've never heard of the heads? you've probably heard "burning down the house", "road to nowhere", "love for sale", "stay up late", "psycho killer" and "once in a lifetime". their sound is part arty pop music and part funk. their rhythm section is also the people behind tom tom club ("genius of love"). check this out from 83, when they were lean and mean:

I saw Kath Bush on your list, and whilst the connection is not strong, I can hear slight influences here and there. Alot of Queen pomp influences of course.
