i could swear i replied to this thread before eek

anyway, out of three i think Janet made the best album. but also out of the three the one i won't be forgetting is Mariah's.

it's crazy melodic, and the vocals and arrangements in it are outta this universe, which are her strongest qualities against Janet and Madonna.

hard candy is too safe for my liking, very boring ad\nd very forgettalbe and felt like it wasnt a madonna album it was more a collobartions track for me with timbo and pharell biting off each other other in an attempt to see who makes the better track...very incohesive. i would rate ashlee simpson new release better than what trash madge is concoting up and the album cover is ridiculous. all in all this is her last album on warner so i guessing she's wasting time on garbage rejects and offcuts from nelly furtado or keri hilson and she doesnt complement the hard cutting stuff either...where she shines is heartbeat and maybe devil wouldnt recognise u forget the rest. plus jt is so 2004 and strips away at the authenticity.

go read my e=mc2 review in the mariah section and get back to me....janet was a coplete disappointment and disaster...its time to wrap up her career the momentum didnt do anything to revitalise any interest in her

I only listen to the Madonna album.Never even heard the other two, except for the first singles lol

I like Mariah and I appreciate her talent, but I don't think I could ever listen to one of her albums all the way through. Her music takes no chances.I prefer her early singles like "Can't Let Go" music

wow, can't let go is her best ballad ever! I always liked her ballads and would think certain ones were the best and then I would get into another one, cause she's disposable like that though I also love her and have practically every CD, but can't let go, will NEVER get tired of that one!

Yes that is one amazing song. She needs to go back to that style i.e. JAMES POYSER and Jimmy & Terry.

Madonna got the best album by far. Its so up-to-date. its experimental. Its a sound SHE hasnt done b4. She almost have all bases covered except for rock...I am really impressed. Mariah fell off the wagon with this last Whitney Houston for Kids record she put out. AybaybayitWAW'NTend... rolleyes uggghhh...

Well i brought all 3 of their CD's and the one who's CD I'm feeling the most is Madonna's. The majority of Hard Candy is great and fun to listen to. Even the songs that don't grab me aren't horrible. The more I listen to it, the more it grows on me and I already love it. It's pure fun and I didn't realize how much I need that right now. Madonna is on top! lol

2nd Place would be Janet. To me, Discipline is her best CD since The Velvet Rope or even All For You. There are some strong tracks on there and it was the 1st album since AFY that I played more than once or twice. What bogs it down are the mid-tempo songs. Greatest X, What's Your Name, The 1 w/Missy, and Never Gonna Letchu Go are either boring or just plain stupid. I wish there was more dance stuff on there. More in the vibe of Luv, Rock With U and 2night.

3rd and Last Place is Mariah. I like E=MC2 but it's not in the same league as Mimi. Truth be told, I haven't listened to it since the week it came out so there are some songs I forgot. But I did enjoy Touch My Body, I Wish You Well, O.O.C., Migrate and That Chick. I think she needs to mix up her sound and try and start to leave the Hip-Hop behind. Plus, I would like to see some maturity in her material. She's almost 40 and she's still talking as if she's barely 20. I'm still rolling with Mimi but I hope we don't get another helping of Emancipation of Mimi with another name.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I think in the end Madonna will be the winner in terms of WORLDWIDE sales. While Mariah is only win in the USA and Japan, Madonna has the biggest fanbase in the world. M is huge in latin america and Europe.

lmao the same thing can be applied to both janet and madonna but madonna more so. if u want to talk about maturity try listening to incredible or dance2night with madge trying to get her booty on she sounds so forced its funny. mariah has the prerogative to make whatever music she wants to nowadays, having done adult contemporary for so long. but madge is to held in a higher standard in a different light and her new album sucks.

Ok U have been bashing Madonna all over. If u dont like her move on. mariah's lackluster album just dont grab my attention and she has done so much better..Butterfly, Glitter and especially Emancipation topples all over EMC2. This album TO ME is by far a Madonna classic

For her standards. She never really had any classic albums other than
Like A Prayer..but she had has GOOD albums...but most of them make me not want to hit the skip button a couple times...this one hardly. For her standards. Not classic as in MUSIC but classic MADONNA

Madonna's new album isn't going to end up alongside 'Ray of Light', 'Like a Prayer' or even 'Bedtime Stories' and 'Confessions' in my short list of favorite Madge CDs, but it's listenable, and I think there are about 7 or 8 songs that I can say that I really do like (and maybe even love a good 3 or 4 of 'em).

Didn't buy Janet's or Mariah's, but I did sample enough of them to know that I'm not impressed with either. I can't even say that I'm disappointed in Janet, because Discipline is exactly what I was expecting from her... There might have been 3 or 4 decent cuts on it, and it is definitely a step up from 20 YO, but it's not even close to Damita Jo quality wise. At this point, I'm not even sure if I'll still be playing 'Luv' in a year...

Mariah has never been someone that I really cared about. When "Emancipation" came out, I was drunk and picked it up on a whim. Thought there were maybe 3 or 4 good songs, but the only one I like nowadays is "Stay the Night", and probably will never pull the CD back out of the rack. She's just so juvenile and pedestrian that I don't consider her to be in the same league as the other two, vocal talent nonwithstanding...

Kylie should have been included in the comparison

(I'm just glad each has continued to record since it sometimes feels like the industry is stacked against them because of age-ism)

My favorite would have to be Madonna's album. You can put it on and just listen front to back. I can't remember the last time I listened to a Madonna album all the way through without skipping tracks. It's a fun 80's vibe that remains through all the songs.

(Kylie's X would be my second choice for many of the same reasons as Madonna's album.)

I'm still feeling Janet but this album sounded like a collection of songs that didn't go together. Five songs were good and the rest weren't ready for primetime. It made me long for the days when you would wait for record stores to open at midnight so you could get the latest Janet masterpiece and know you would be playing that cd (or record) for the next few months. This last cd is just not in the league of Control, Nation, Janet or Rope. I blame the industry stressing singles and not consistent albums.

Mariah's would be my last choice because it sounds like a watered down MIMI and seems to have no direction (much like Janet) other than trying to be MIMI.

I guess Kylie should be in the ranking but since she is not an AMERICAN diva, and hasnt had longstanding American success...

Other than that I agree with everything u said. This Madonna CD is HAAWT. I think I like it more than Bedtime Stories and Confessions and Ray Of Light....I guess cuz I like dance music and a child product of funk from the 80's.

Let's be honest, none of these ladies are making "age-appropriate" music, lol. The lyrics on their albums could easily be sung by 18-year old singers. There's nothing deep about the lyrics in "4 Minutes","Touch My Body" or "Feedback".In Madonna's defense though, she has done her share of serious, mature, introspective, confessional albums ('Like A Prayer','Ray Of Light','American Life',etc).I think she just wants to do fun dance music...at least for now.I don't mind one bit.I wanna have fun right now.I don't wanna hear her sing about motherhood or Kabbalah meetings, lol.

I had said in my initial post that if you feel a "diva" outside of the ones specifically named had a better CD, then you could put it here. So if Kylie was your favorite CD in the list of Diva's, put it down and tell us why. biggrin

I like 3 songs from Discipline, 1 song from Hard Candy, and no songs from E=MC2. So Janet wins. Even though all of them are going to be forgotten so fast.
