Bishop Clifford Petty of the National Church of God in Governor's Harbour in Eleuthera confirmed to PEOPLE that he presided over the wedding of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon.

Petty provided no details except to say that he did not give a sermon.

Nick Cannon is head over heels for his new bride, Mariah Carey, according to Jacob Arabo, who created the diamond sparkler that the actor gave the singer as an engagement ring.
"The way he came into the store, the mood he was in, I knew this was very serious," Arabo tells PEOPLE exclusively. "He said 'Jacob, I'm in love. This is what I want to do.' "
Though there's been no official confirmation of a wedding, the pair obtained a marriage license on the Caribbean island of Eleuthera, and Cannon's family confirmed the pair got hitched.
According to Arabo, Cannon, 27, came to Jacob & Co. two weeks ago and asked to have an engagement ring created for Carey, 39. "He said he wanted something in pink, so he picked something in a light purple-ish pink. He was very involved and he trusted me to design the ring."
Despite the couple's whirlwind romance, Arabo said: "He loves her. That's all I know."

As for their compatibility, he added, "[Nick] is an artist, she's an artist, so they have a lot in common. He was very, very happy. Happier than I have ever seen him. I've known him four or five years and this was a really happy moment for him, in his life."
On Thursday, Jacob & Co. confirmed to PEOPLE that the ring he made was crafted from platinum and features a square, emerald-cut fancy light pink diamond in the center, surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds, flanked by two half-moon diamonds. The total carat weight of the ring - the center stone alone is 10 carats - is a jaw-dropping 17 carats, with a value of $2.5 million.
Though some speculated that Carey's ring was the same one Cannon gave to his former fiancée, Victoria's Secret model Seltia Ebanks, Ebanks's ring was 12 carats and made of colorless diamonds.
"It may look similar from afar but it's not the same," said Arabo. "I would never do one of the same he had before."

Im still not believing this, and if its true, Nick must have done a total 360, since his REP is not very good with the females. Lets not even talk about the way he played Christina Milian by cheating on her, than dating Kim Kardashian while having some other actress on the side, so im not really sure where he all of a sudden "found love" like that, but he sure wasnt acting that way a few months ago.

Turns out, Mariah Carey's one sweet day was April 30.

E! News has confirmed that the surprise bride and new hubby Nick Cannon tied the knot on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera on Wednesday.

A local clerk for the island's leading wedding officiant verified the date of the vow swap and revealed that two other celebrities were in attendance, although she declined to name names. Carey's close pal Da Brat was previously reported to have been present, but no word yet on who the other boldface type was.

Meanwhile, Henrietta White, who works for the island's Eleuthera Florist, told E! News: "My son did the flowers for the wedding."

Adding to the impromptu nature of the nuptials, another source revealed that the bouquets were only prepared the day of the ceremony.

The ceremony took place on Carey's private estate on Windermere Island, just off Eleuthera. As for a potential honeymoon, a source tells E! News that as of Thursday night, Carey and Cannon were still on the island.

It's unclear when the couple of less than two months first arrived in the tropical paradise. Cannon appeared live on MTV Monday afternoon.

But per Bahamian law, couples are required to have spent at least one day in the island nation before they can get a marriage license, and bride and groom are required to show birth certificates or passports, as well as fork over the requisite $40.

On Thursday, the 27-year-old's relative Linda Cannon confirmed to E! News that the union had taken place.

"Yes, we know," she said. "He called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him."

I know they look mismatched because (like Calhouhn says, he's only 5
), but even though Mariah's up to her eyeballs in money, Nick isn't poor. He sort went the Raven Simone route (on a MUCH smaller scale) and is known to have a lot of dough from his Nickelodeon kiddie actor days. With sound investments from that time, as long as he's a clean kid and had a good CPA, he should be living very comfortably off of interest and not principal. Add that not so much to the rinky dink stuff he's been doing onscreen rather than his production credits as an adult...he should have a very healthy and finacially sound bank account...again, no match for Scariah's dough by ANY means, but he's certainly self-sufficient and not poor. I guess if a woman wants to date a muuuuuch younger man, at least he should be financially sound...although I don't like men too much younger than me, so I couldn't see myself wanting to do that long term term. I would feel too much like I was babysitting
