Tina Turner to tour again

Veteran singer Tina Turner has revealed plans to tour the US, despite announcing her retirement from performing on the road eight years ago.

The 68-year-old pop legend told TV host Oprah Winfrey the tour would kick off in October in Kansas City.

In 2000 the Grammy-winning singer played a farewell world tour that was supposed to mark the end of her career as a live performer.

Tickets for the tour are due to go on sale on 12 May.

Turner announced her retirement plans during the first concert of her world tour in Zurich.

At the time her spokesman said she was bowing out because "she wants to go out at the top."

Best known for hits such as Simply The Best and What's Love Got To Do With It?, she rose to prominence in the mid-1960s with husband Ike, who died last year.

Their violent relationship, which featured in a film about her life, caused her to leave him in 1975.

Since then she achieved commercial success in both the UK and US.

I always laugh when artists announce their "retirement" lol Wasn't Cher on a "farewell tour" several years ago? She is now getting ready to play Vegas for several years.

Well, she never said, that she won't tour or won't do concerts again! She only said it would be her last, big outdoor stadium tour! If she now does theaters and smaller venues, with a scaled down show, she'll stay true to her word!

In Cher's defense, that is not a "tour", I think they both like performing live, but the monster of touring is very different and the travel takes a lot out of you. I think that's what Cher said and might have said something about still wanting to perform live but just not tour.

That would be cool to she her live in slightly smaller venue....Doesn't mean ticket prices will be lower, though.

I think those Celine Dion/Vegas deals are great for artists who don't like going from one city to the next, from one hotel to the next. This type of arrangement would be perfect for someone like Michael Jackson, who's really lazy.

The arena tour will be promoted by AEG Live, according to a source, and will include close to 40 shows in North America, likely to be followed by Europe and other international dates.
