Kevin Eubanks - on Acoustic and Electric ...
Kevin Eubanks was always a favorite, but when he got the Tonight Show gig, his gifts as a guitarist suddenly took back seat to being Jay Leno's joking buddy. Luckily, people who've caught his live shows get to see him really at his best, on acoustic and electric, like Wes Montogomery, he doesn't use a pick, just his hand.... On acoustic Same tune on electric, with Smitty on drums Live Jam ... [Edited 4/27/08 19:40pm] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

So, this thread is an education for them of sorts.

I caught one night (of a 2 night stand) he did with Living Colour's drummer Will Calhoun over at the Baked Potato. They did 60 min of guitar/drum percussion acoustic/electric improv. It was amazing! If I had gone to the first night I'd have come back for the second night. Reminds me, I'm supposed to keep checking his website to see if that run got recorde. Check it out; he runs his own label from there. http://www.kevineubanks.com/ test

Kevin is a very talented musician. A friend of mine introduced me to his music years ago and I'm always impressed with what I hear from him.

This is the same Kevin Eubanks that some of the members of this site said that Prince kills him on guitar. Yeah. Suuuurrrreeeee.
I've always dug Kevin's playing. He's one of those cats that never seems to get mentioned along side the great players but when someone thinks to remember to say "Oh yeah, what about Kevin Eubanks?" people go "Oh yeah, he's a bad ass!"
