Best compilations for different types of music

If you wanted to introduce someone to a specific type of music, what existing compilation would you recommend they get?

Choose any genre:

jazz
soul
funk
hip hop
disco
new wave
punk
metal
electronica
etc.

For a Cuban vibe..... The Buena Vista Social Club! Those guys (and gals) were amazing. Some are still alive, but unfortunately some have passed away.

PUNK

1 2 3 4 Punk & New Wave 1976-1979

This box set is out of print, but used copies are floating around online. Five discs, 100 songs, one track per band in chronological order (anyone that knows me knows how much I love chronological order). The usual suspects are on it as well as hard to find rarities. It's excellent.
