Tina Turner: Beyonce will never be 'Rock & Roll' http://www.thecheers.org/...-roll.html
Tina Turner says Beyonce Knowles will never be 'rock ‘n’ roll' The ‘Simply the Best’ singer claims she was an inspiration for Beyonce, but although she is a great singer the former Destiny’s Child star will never match her for raw talent. Tina said: "Beyonce was one of the ones that were sitting in front of her little television, her little self looking at the big screen when I was Tina in the ‘Ike and Tina Turner days’ and she took from all the stars at the time. “Diana Ross influenced her, I influenced her. What I like about her is that she knows what she’s doing, she really did her homework and decided to stay elegant. “She’s not rock ‘n’ roll -- she’s totally elegant. Unless your rock ‘n’ roll from the heart you can’t mimic that. The stance, the movements, it has to come from the inside." Tina, 68, and Beyonce, 26, performed together at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards this February. Meanwhile, Tina has announced plans to tour the UK - eight years after retiring from performing live. The music legend will play four dates starting in March 2009 at London’s O2 arena. Tina said: "After performing with Beyonce at the Grammys, the response was overwhelming. "Everywhere I went people were asking me when I was going back on tour. So after a lot of thought and planning we announced an American tour. "Now Europe beckons and I don't want to let down all my loyal fans over there." MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

Beyonce wasn't even alive in the "Ike and Tina Turner days" "Try to remember how you used to feel about me
and think about how you're treating me now. Then try to reconcile them, if you can. But you don't even remember, do you?"

I think Tina meant that Beyonce looked at some archival Tina performances on TV and emulated her after that.

[Edited 5/21/08 9:42am] "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I think Beyoncé has the talent required to be now what Tina was. Its unfortunate that the BUSINESS of music is to be a canned pop star. If Beyoncé had come out in the 60s, I think she WOULD be Rock and Roll because R&R was the thing to be when Tina was in her heyday. I think if Tina were young and came out now, she would be a pop star instead of a rock and roller. When she was coming along, she wanted to be a huge star and that was the way to do it then. She had Ike; Beyoncé has Matthew.

beyonce prolly never watched no damn tina turner when she was growing up, the girl wasnt born until 1981, ike and tina was long gone. funny i never heard beyonce mention tina as a influence during her destiny child days, its only after the media declared tina to be a major influence that beyonce started to claim she's this big tina fan. the industry kills me with this, they basically pick and choose the hot young artists influences for them.

[Edited 5/21/08 9:48am] Oh, we will, if we let them. If we finally give the music industry the heave-ho; tell the suits to shape up or ship the fuck out, we can do it. It's all about letting the true talent shine instead of giving the spotlight to the pretenders. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Have it your way. Tina turned into a big pile of dust after she left Ike. There were no people feeling her in the 80s. There were no little girls, teens, and grown women rocking some of her gear and wigs like they did with Whordonna. No one liked her music. btw I'm NOT a Bigonce fan.
