Shirley was too soulful for the pop charts. They didn't want her to hurt Whitney Houston too badly.

"Husband" was a great track too.
I really liked Ms. Shirley. But I prefer Angela Winbush's voice!! Girl has too much range for her own good!

"...It's mor-or-neeeeeng..." . I don`t understand why it wasn`t called "In the morning" instead

Since when does crossover define success to all artists. Basically, Shirley and Zapp didn't focus their energies on the Pop charts and were content with the big positive feedback they gotten over the years with their fans. Believe or not, Shirley Murdock has a big following in R & B and Gospel. .

Well, obviously an r&b arist wouldn`t have as many hits on the pop-charts... I was trying to say that with her talent, she should get more recognition.

I didn't know until recently that 'As We Lay' was actually a cover version from Roger's other side project, The Human Body. It was quite odd listening to that song from a male perspective. Ironically, Shirley sings backup on the track.

That's exactly what I was thinking. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
