Y'now, when I used to listen to this tune growing up, I used to wonder if Jaco's bassline was being doubled by Zawinul on the ARP 2600....Turns out it was, as this this clip demonstrates...Zawinul also mentions it in his biography, he says they did that to give it a thicker, fat sound... I've always heard that they did Midnight Special, but this is the first time I've seen the footage. Thanks! ... Maybe the coolest Fusion band (that didn't actually include Miles Davis, although his spirit is evident) to ever grace the planet.
What a treat to watch such a skilled musician, Jaco, play with such exuberance and overt joy onstage. tA  Tribal Disorder
