Downbeat Awards Show: Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, George Benson, Stanley Clarke, Rashaan Roland Kirk, etc.. ...
Man, I wish they had kept this up! in '75 and '76, PBS stations aired a program called the Downbeat Awards show, in which the poll winners from the jazz magazine's annual survey's would not only show up, but actually play and jam together...the lineups for '75 and '76 were hosted by Quincy Jones, Chick Corea, and Thad Jones, and the guests included Corea, Stanley Clarke, George Benson, Rashaan Roland Kirk, Sonny Rollins, Lenny White, Hubert Laws, Billy Cobham, Lee Ritenour, Jean Luc Ponty, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Watrous, Airto, Weather Report, and others.....
