Which Neil Young album should I get next? I have Greatest Hits, Harvest, After The Gold Rush, Comes A Time, American Stars N Bars, Ragged Glory, Chrome Dreams II (great album btw)...
I've really enjoyed all of them, except maybe Comes A Time which has a little too much filler.... What essential Neil Young albums would you say are missing from that list?

'everybody knows this is nowhere' is my favourite young album - it was his first (and best, i'd say) record with crazy horse, and it was the template for the loose, raw, electric guitar-centric neil.

Living With War (normal edition) is an absolute killer. Best recent album by far. Neil's in inspired form. The album has a focus, both lyrically and musically. It's well sequenced. It may be about 40 minutes long, but you know you've really heard something. After listening to it, it made me think of Prince, wishing he had some burning issues that he wanted to get out there. Artists are at their best with an agenda, it gives them an edge and avoids having any filler.
LIVING WITH WAR is a stone cold classic.

I got Living With War and Harvest Moon.
I absolutely love Living With War. Every song is special in it's own way. I've only had it a few days but already I can tell it's going to be a favourite. I've given Harvest Moon a few spins, and although I quite like it, it sounds a little like a poor mans Harvest.

I kind of agree. Seems you like "crunchy" Neil best--go for Rust Never Sleeps, Live Rust, Ragged Glory, or Everybody Knows next.

I already own Ragged Glory. I love Country Home and Over & Over. Such great melodies...
