This is what is beautiful about creative souls. Sly sounds like Sly, not someone else trying to sound like Stevie, or the Spinners etc.
His music has a feel that just does not sound remotely like anything else. I love the above mentioned songs, but I always felt that Family Affair has the most organic sound I have ever heard. I possibly think it could be the funkiest and best song I have ever heard. The gallop, which I can't tell if it's his foot stomping or slapback from plucking the strings hard on the bass. I have never heard anyone get that sound. He is and the band simply is a wonderful gift that 30 yrs later still sounds as original and promising as it did before I was born. It's the real deal folks.
