''Soul Train'' On Track To Hit The Big Screen Legendary dance TV show "Soul Train" is currently being developed into a movie.
According to Reuters, Iconic host Don Cornelius has linked up with Warner Brothers to create the comedy, which follows two male dancers as they get into "a lot of good stuff and some bad stuff as well." Along with Darryl Porter, the executive producer of the Hughes brothers' 1995 flick, Dead Presidents, Cornelius will produce Soul Train: The Movie. The film, which is still in the writing phase with newbie script writer J. Gil Williams turning in the first draft next month, does not have a cast or a director attached as of yet. Cornelius promised that Soul Train: The Movie will feature "lots of music, lots of comedy and a little bit of violence." And of course, lots of sexuality. "'Soul Train' has always been about sexuality," Cornelius said. "It's almost never been about guys, and almost always about girls. It's what has kept us afloat for these three decades or so." "Soul Train" was the longest-running show airing in first-run syndication, launching nationally in 1971. The program recently ended its run in 2006 but during its day, helped catapult some of the biggest stars in R&B. Soul Train: The Movie is scheduled to roll into theatres next year. I can't wait (though I think the movie may suck). I just hope the movie keeps the "Soul Train" name alive and not KILL it. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

That's what I'm saying. There is no reason why the movie shouldn't be any good. Especially if they feature the period when it started. I would love for them to stay mostly during the 70's, cuz that was during it's heyday and is largely seen as it's glory years. Of course they should feature the 80's and 90's as well cuz it was still on the air. If for no other reason, they should show how the music changed during this time. And also how the people changed. It's all evident on that show. From the 70, to the 80's, it wasn't that much of a leap. Folks on the show still looked like they were having a good time. The only change was mainly the Afro to the Jheri Curl. But the over all attitude of the show was very light hearted and positive. Enter the 90's and a lot of that vibe started fading away. I hope the film picks the 70's and some of the 80's as it's main period. If it does that, then it will be a blockbuster. Everybody will go see this. It has the possibility of being a great movie or a shitty movie. It didn't say it was a movie about the history of "Soul Train". It said it was a movie that follows two male dancers around. If it is set in the 1970s or 1980s, it could be a great movie. However, if it is set in the 1990s or present day, it will definately, no question about it, be a shitty movie. I think she didn't show up until the 80's but it seems like it wouldn't be Soul Train without her . That's like trying to to a "Solid Gold" movie without having the lead dancer with the braids, Darcelle

Did you ever see the movie 'Boogie Nights'? I love the time frame of that film (1977-1983).That was perfect!

If Don is giving his input on this, then the film should be worth seeing. I'm sure he's seen a lot of stuff occur onscreen and off. And it should be set in the mid 1970's. Wonder what the rating will be?..Looking foward to it.

However, there is a Soul Train Music group on yahoo groups. They have lots of info on former dancers. The major drawback is that a lot of the people are not very knowledgeable in music (like people are here on the org). I saw her on the Gloria Gaynor episode last year and she did a dance routine with her partner..... You know the deal gang. The routine must be finished and it must be perfect. She won a year's supply of Johnson's hair products on that episode. Andy is a four letter word.
