New Dwele Album Forthcoming April 21 Link Best known for his haunted hookcraft on Kanye West's superb "Flashing Lights" last year, Dwele is in fact an established, if lesser-known, soul man in his own right. A Grammy nomination for his own cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's classic "That's The Way Of The World" and another high-profile guest spot on Common's "The People" additionally made headway for the singer's own success last year. And on June 24, the vocalist/songwriter/producer releases his third album, "Sketches Of A Man", through RT/Koch. Playing most of the instruments himself, Dwele plans to confront the charts with cleverer-than-your-average R&B, like the first single, "I'm Cheatin'," in which the narrator slyly describes lusting after both his girlfriend's reserved and wild sides as infidelity. Other songs include "A Few Reasons," produced by Nottz, the hip-hop-infused "Body Rock," "Love Ultra" and "Open Your Eyes," a Bobby Caldwell cover. Outside producers include Nottz (Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly) and longtime collaborator G-1, who helmed Dwele's solo breakthrough single, "Find A Way," from his 2003 debut, "Subject". [Edited 4/21/08 14:46pm] | |
