R. Kelly's Relationship W/ Aaliyah To Be Used Against Him In Child Porn Trial?

R&B superstar R. Kelly's tainted past can't escape him. Prosecutors in the embattled singer's upcoming child pornography trail want to introduce evidence of other crimes that Kells allegedly committed.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, court documents show that earlier this month prosecutors filed a motion to allow evidence of other crimes to be used in the trial, including, Kells' 1995 marriage to the late singer Aaliyah, when she was 15. Initially both camps denied the union, but Vibe magazine later published a copy of their marriage license, which showed Aaliyah's age had been falsely listed at 18. The marriage was annulled a few months after the report.

The 41 year-old Grammy award-winning singer (born Robert Sylvester Kelly) is accused of videotaping himself having sex with an underage female. In February 2002 a sex-tape was sent to the Chicago paper by an unknown source. The video allegedly features Kells having intercourse with a then 14-year-old niece of his former protégé, Sparkle.

The motion was a subject of a two-hour, closed-door hearing on Friday, April 11 before Judge Vincent Gaughan.

The troubled star is facing 14 counts of child pornography charges, to which he has pled not guilty. Jury selection for the trial begins on May 9.

In related news, according to Jive Records, the pied piper is gearing a summer release of his thirteenth studio album 12 Play Fourth Quarter. The follow up to 2007's Double Up, Kelly made the announcement during his newly released remix of Mariah Carey's hit, "Touch My Body." The first single "Hair Braider," is starting to heat up the airwaves as director Malcolm Jones shot the video in Chi-town last month.

There's no way they would proceed without bringing this up. This (along with the underage porn footage) is the whipped icing on their sour cream cake!

To THIS day I have NEVER understood how this child molester didn't go to prison for not only marrying Aaliyah but having sex with her as well. As much as I loved her, part of me hated the fact that her parents allowed that shit to be swept under the rug for the sake of her career. disbelief

Furthermore, the fact that he was screwing his jump-off's 14 year-old niece shows how twisted and sick this fucker is. hammer Compounding the problem is the black community's AND the music industry's continued support of this criminal like it ain't shit. But they wanted to crucify MJ, yeah his behavior was hella inappropriate but nothing anywhere near what this nucca did.

How did he not get charged with shit in the Aaliyah situation???? He wasn't THAT big a star at the time. And with MJ's shit it seems like they had him in court less than 6 months after they searched Neverland. Ironically, R's video came out around the same time MJ was going through his stuff. So tell me, how in the HELL R. Kelly is walking around, throwin' weave up in his head, painting his head gold as a FREE man???? I don't get it. disbelief confuse

And let's not forget the charges that were dropped in Florida because they seized illegally neutral

Prosecutors in Florida have dropped all 12 child pornography charges against R&B star R Kelly.
A judge had ruled that photographs seized from the singer's home allegedly showing him with an underage girl were seized illegally.

He still faces 14 charges of child pornography in the state of Illinois, stemming from an video of him allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

The 36-year-old has denied all the charges against him.

Last week Florida Circuit judge Dennis Maloney ruled the warrant used to seize the pictures from R Kelly's home in 2002 was based on insufficient evidence, making the digital photographs inadmissible.

The prosecution opted not to appeal the ruling, instead dropping the charges.

Despite legal worries hanging over the singer for more than two years his career has not suffered, with recent hits including Ignition Remix and Snake.

Not really. "Chocolate Factory" and "Happy People/U Saved Me" did 3 million, yeah, but his albums have only done modestly well since. And as you see, "Double Up" only did 935K in total. Of course you can say that's due to the dying music industry, but compared to how he initially did, his audience has diminished. The only real reason he's still popular is because of "Trapped in the Closet". True he still score a hit single but his albums have only done as well as the first single, lol.

Almost worse than legal woes is the fact that he plans another album release after that Double Up mess.

Michael surrendered to the police November 21, 2003. I remember that date because I was watching the television and almost passed out when I saw him in handcuffs. They had Mike arraigned in the middle of January. The trial started a year after in February and lasted until June 13th 2005. I remember that date because my ass had the stereo blasting Workin Day And Night, Sunset Driver, and Wanna Be Startin Somethin out of the window lol

Michael's whole situation was bullshit whereas R. Kelly's is real and the prosecution has pictures and videotapes.

Yet Michael is still seen as guilty but this bitch ass golden haired muthafucka is still free?

I saw that tape, and that's DEFINITELY him. There's even abortion papers with his name on it mad

nod

I've thought through every possible angle, and I just don't get it. MJ may have behaved inappropriately, but there has still never been any solid evidence against him, he was found innocent by a jury, and several of those involved in the accusations are decidedly suspect. And yet ol' Mikey's a villian for the ages.

R. Kelly, on the other hand, once married a definitely underaged Aaliyah, and is shown through video evidence to have had sex with at least one more underaged girl. And yet, he's more popular now than he ever was.

When it comes right down to it, the only thing I can imagine to account for the difference in public and media regard of these two is the genders of their (alledged) victims. sigh Maybe had Michael gotten himself suspected of touching ltitle girls, people would be more forgiving. And maybe if R. was videotaped having sex with a little boy, his career would be the one in the shitter.
