"Sensuality (Pts. I & II)"

this is where I fell in love
with the Isleys...

I mean of course I always loved their
popular stuff I'd heard on the radio
and at barbeques, wedding receptions,
family reunions etc...

but THAT song right there
I get lost in it cool
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

and also it was Mary J. Blige's
unreleased track "Girl From Yesterday"
that sparked my interest in this
great Isley Bros. track
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

Pick any album from 1972-1978. Judging by what I've seen of your taste, I'd start with Harvest for the World.

This is a good album to have, it pretty much covers A-Z, minus their later hits from the last 5 years or so. But some of my favorite songs are 'That Lady', 'For the love of you', 'Groove With You', 'Harvest For the World', 'You're All I Need' & 'Voyage To Atlantis'... just to name a few cool .
Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

If you're talking about their 3+3 era, I think these 6 are all essential starting points....
But IMO, if I had to pick just one to start with, I think I'd pick The Heat Is On(1975)Great album, from start to finish---6 songs spanning Funk, Rock, Soul, and those Ballads:

The Heat Is On:

Fight The Power
The Heat Is On
Hope You Feel Better Love
(Living)For The Love Of You
Sensuality
Make Me Say It Again Girl

I didn't forget it. It's in the era I posted earlier which is "3 + 3" through "The Real Deal". The 1970s were funky but the early 1980s had two of my favorite albums such as "Go All The Way" and "Grand Slam". Those two have plenty of ass shakers also. Then I have the 45s "Inside You" and "The Real Deal", in which I'm still looking for those two albums.

And don't forget the group Sunrize which was produced by The Isley Brothers and had a bad ass jam called "Who's Stickin' It" the summer of 1982. You really know your jams if you remember that one.

speaking of 'Grand Slam'....I remember the single from this album. It's called "Hurry Up And Wait"....a really, really good uptempo jam.It got a little airplay in my area in 1981,but faded away very quickly. It's one of their most underrated singles.
