I see you include in your list:
North Americans
South (Latin) Americans
and even a Spaniard.

I think I have a problem understanding the term Latin.

Is it that they (sometimes) sing in Spanish?
That they or their ancestors came from Latin America?
That they or their ancestors speak romance languages (those that come from Latin)? In that case, would a Italian singer be a Latin singer?

Maybe it's obvious to you but believe me, it's NOT clear for this Spaniard hrmph

I believe that would be correct. I don't know that I'd describe music from Spain as "Latin".

I looked it up on wikipedia geek

"Latin American music, sometimes simply called Latin music in The United States, includes the music of all countries in Latin America and comes in many varieties. From the simple, rural conjunto music of northern Mexico to the sophisticated habanera of Cuba, from the symphonies of Heitor Villa-Lobos to the simple and moving Andean flute. Music has played an important part in Latin America's turbulent recent history, for example the nueva canción movement. Latin-American music is very diverse, with the only truly unifying thread being the use of Latin-derived languages, predominately the Spanish language, the Portuguese language in Brazil, and to a lesser extent, Latin-derived creole languages such as that found in Haiti.

Although Spain is not a part of Latin America, Spanish music (and Portuguese music) and Latin American music strongly cross-fertilized each other, but Latin-American music also absorbed influences from English and United States' music, and particularly, African music."

Hector Lavoe
Chivirico Davila
Ismael Rivera
Cheo Feliciano
Santana - not so much as a singer, but as a musician (I love him! I saw him in concert last night and it was AMAZING! He and his band are immensely talented).

Oh, honorable mention: Adalberto Santiago, Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Santos Colon, Ismael Miranda and Ismael Quintana (though he could have recorded more). I also love a street singer named Totico. That guy had an unbelievable voice for the style of music (Cuban) that he sang. He only has one album that I know of with Patato called Patato y Totico - it is fantastic.

And for the price of panties with butt pads in them you can too. lol I remember that before she died there was a huge escandolo in Texas because there were pics released of her booty pads slipping off or something and pics of her before and after the pads and it was quite obvious. Sorry, ya'll. comfort lol I loved me some Selena though.

Excellent choices! thumbs up! I completely agree and I have to add Carlos Santana to this list. One of our greatest guitarists.

Definitely Hector Lavoe number one. Marc Anthony has a fantastic charisma on record that you can't beat. I like Joao Gilberto too as well as Celia Cruz (just got a fantastic collabo album of her and Tito Puente! cool ) and then Caetano Veloso to round out the list.

Y'all are making me laugh with the Santana. lol Dude doesn't sing and for good reason! lol

Yes, but neither do Shakira and J.Lo, but they insist on trying. Carlos is definitely not a singer, but I figured if others can list Shakira and J.Lo, then I can list Carlos razz At least he has talent.
