Love some Gary Taylor.
Got 2 albums: "compassion" and "Square one" Both are awesome, but I prefer "compassion". Iam actually quite hard on albums in general, and am amazed at how consistant "compassion" is. No derivitive slabs at newjack, no slabs at MOR ala James Ingram or whomever. Just gives you a great album. Also, Gary Taylor wrote/aranged/produced a minni funk sounding number for Chico Debarge called "i like my body". More RFTworld then Prince, but alot better then RFTWorld, and its quite a funny number aswell. Also wrote and produced "square one" (the track) for Ray Parker Jr, aswell as writing about half of Mac Bands second album "Love u 2 the limit". Worth a seek. | |

Yeah, Ray talks about the tune in part3 of that video above... I love the Mac Band's version of All Or Nothing At All... Gary did his own version a few years back, on his Under The Nightlight album.... I think I have all of Gary's albums, so far.....

Not sure if I would buy anymore of his albums (I like quiet storm, but I dont want too much of it), but do love the aformentioned 2 albums I own of him, not forgetting the work he has done for others. I also have "under the nightlight", but have not listened to it yet.
Nice to see he has plenty more albums though. I kinda thought he was always kinda off the radar back in the late 80's/early 90's, which is a shame. | |
