Dale Bozzio & Prince??

I just read online that Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons did a solo album in the late 80's and was signed to Prince's label. What was this album like? I love her and would be curious to hear this album. It's described as sounded funkier than Missing Persons. Also Prince wrote and produced some of it? Now this I must hear! I also found out that she released a new cd a few months ago called the New Wave Sessions. I heard some snippets and it's badass. This woman rocks! Gwen is totally influenced by her and I think Santogold is too. Too bad she doesn't get the credit she deserves.

Yes, Dale released a solo album on Paisley Park back in the 80s. I think it's kind of bland myself. The first single "Simon Simon" made the bottom half of the U.S. dance chart. That was the best song on the album. The second single "Riot in English" went nowhere. Prince is credited for writing one song "So Strong".

But you've been on the org for awhile now. You really didn't find out about this album until now?

It's definitely in the bottom half of the Paisley Park catalog. I like "Simon Simon" a lot. Other songs that aren't bad are "Giddy-Up Baby Mine", "Overtime" and Prince's "So Strong". The album is very synth-driven, late-80s dance pop. Even though I don't think it's all that, knowing your tastes, you might like it.

i was thinking the same thing based on your description. late 80's synth pop. it has my name written all over it. remember i'm the chick that loves Adam Ant's album with Room at the top on it. Most people here hate that album.

"Simon,Simon" is a decent dance track, but Dale has an odd vocal style.

Her voice is fine for Missing Persons. But not what you would expect on a more mainstream dance-pop album.
