In the midst of all the negativity about her in the media lately, Id like to post something positive. It's a gorgeous intro to Fallin that I've never seen. Id welcome a piano album by her. I wish the right person was behind her to push her music talent further.

John Mayer is on another level musically than Alicia. Dance how can you say John Mayer sucks, you may not like his songs, image, dating habits etc. But can you challenge the fact that he is one of the premier guitarists on the planet right now??

As I said in some other posts. I don't like his early stuff, nor his latest Say, but Continuum and Trio! were unbelievably good.

And for people like my wife who hate guitar, and the fact that she can actually sing his guitar solos it's a huge feat for any musicians out there.

Last point on his worst night he is still better than 95% of what passes as artists because he can play an instrument!

For real though, this is an old video from one of her first tours several years ago. I find she's a more more solid player when she's doing solos these days compared to back then. What is it that you generally don't like about her performances?

I didn't know she could sing that well. I think that clip shows AK as being greater than the sum of her parts...

Her piano playing was OK (my gripes are with her off timing and a few errant notes). The whole point of that intro, in my opinion, is to play up the prodigy angle that was used to market her debut.

But folks who play piano -- or who are, at least, around tight pianists on the regular -- can tell the difference between a classically tinged piano and voice intro by an average pianist, and Rachelle Ferrelle knocking one out of the park.

A world of difference, but I appreciate the overall beauty of that arrangement.
